That was hard, really hard!

It is hard to explain the mental challenge of summiting Africa’s highest peak, the mental challenge outweighs the physical one in more ways than we can explain!

All the smiles and all the energy at the base of Kilimanjaro had depleted by the summit as this team dug deep to achieve something that not many their age have done—watching the sunrise from the rooftop of Africa. 🌄💪

We captured the raw emotions of both parents and students before the climb—full of excitement and anticipation—and then again at the summit, where exhaustion gave way to a deep sense of accomplishment and pride. This journey was about more than just reaching the top, it was about resilience, teamwork, and proving to themselves that they could conquer any challenge, we can’t wait to hear how this experience will be one they draw on when the challenges of life are thrown their way! A big thank you to the dads and uncles who never gave up and ensured we had a 💯 % summit rate!

Proud doesn’t even begin to describe it! 🙌

Japan, I’d get back on a plane for these alone🇯🇵🥹✈️

🌻 Sunflower fields · Furano
The biggest sunflower field I’ve ever seen. Yellow as far as I could see and me wanting to take approximately 700 photos 😭

🩵 Shirogane Blue Pond · Biei, Hokkaido
Water so blue it genuinely doesn’t look real. Tiny mineral particles scatter the sunlight to create that dreamy colour. No filter needed.

♨️ Fukiage Open-Air Onsen · Kamifurano, Hokkaido
A wild hot spring tucked into the forest on the slopes of Mount Tokachi, with naturally heated water flowing from the mountainside. Nature’s hot tub and honestly… obsessed 🤭

⛩️ Fushimi Inari Taisha · Kyoto
Thousands of red torii gates winding up a forested mountain, including the famous Senbon Torii, or “thousand gates”. One of those places that’s even better in real life.

🎋 Arashiyama Bamboo Grove · Kyoto
Towering bamboo lining the path and making you feel tiny in the best way. Spent this entire walk looking up 🥹

🏔️ Happo Pond (Happo-ike) · Hakuba
A little alpine pond that reflects the Northern Japanese Alps like a mirror when the water is calm. As if one mountain view wasn’t already enough 🫶🏼

96 students. 10 days. 11 Cities. One incredible Japan Adventure 🇯🇵✨

@trinityhouse_glenvista has just wrapped up an incredible school expedition through Japan and we are still going through the camera roll.

From crossing the Shibuya Scramble in Tokyo to temple visits, tea experiences, ninja shows, Universal Studios, seven-eleven snack stops and a whole lot of laughs, this group made every day count.

The photos are fun, but the real highlights were the new friendships, trying unfamiliar things, navigating a new country together and watching students grow in confidence along the way. 🫶

Thank you, Trinityhouse Glenvista, for bringing such a special group. We loved sharing Japan with you.

Still trying to find the words for the most incredible week at the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Japan 🇯🇵🌍🚲

This was so much more than just a race for me. Alongside training and preparing to race myself, I had the privilege of planning, organising and managing the entire experience for a group of 24 South African cyclists (and one Zimbabwean) travelling to Japan to take on Worlds.

From the months of logistics, travel plans, accommodation, race entries and endless moving parts, to race-week nerves, coffee runs, lost-in-translation moments and cheering everyone across the finish line…
it was full on, slightly chaotic and honestly so special.

To get to see a world-level race up close - riders from all over the world, so many different journeys meeting on the same start line, and the shared buzz of everyone chasing their own goal - was something I’ll never forget.

And I’m beyond proud of every single person in our group who showed up, raced hard and crossed that finish line 💛

Thank you to @southsidecycles_ and @expeditionedu_ for trusting me with this opportunity and helping bring this experience to life. I’m so grateful for the people, the lessons, the laughs and the reminder that cycling really can take you places.

I also have to give a shout-out to the @ctcycletour 💛 This year’s race was a UCI Gran Fondo World Series qualifier, and qualifying there is what made this whole Japan World Champs experience possible. From racing through home in Cape Town to lining up at a World Championship in Japan — such a full-circle moment.

The World Champs chapter may be over, but I still have another month in Japan to explore, ride, eat all the things and soak up every second of this beautiful country ✨ More Japan adventures incoming 🇯🇵
