Exciting momentum is building across Appalachia as BOA and AOT, with the support of ARC, announce a significant multi-state investment aimed at expanding eco-tourism and driving sustainable economic development throughout Kentucky, West Virginia, and Ohio.

In Kentucky, a $6.1 million project will establish a 199-acre state-of-the-art training and testing facility in Owsley County. The site will support rally car development, off-road training, and create small business opportunities while providing valuable workforce development for Eastern Kentucky. New infrastructure and on-site accommodations will position the region as a year-round destination for motorsport tourism.

In West Virginia, a $4 million investment will transform the historic Evans Farmhouse into a Welcome Center for visitors drawn to the state’s growing motorsports sector. Over the past two years alone, BOA events have generated $44 million in economic activity across 17 counties, directly supporting rural communities and local nonprofits.

In Ohio, a $776,000 grant will fund comprehensive mapping of 1,000 miles of public access trails across 10 southern counties. This cutting-edge project combines expert GIS mapping with on-the-ground off-road expertise to ensure safe, responsible, and sustainable trail use—strengthening Ohio’s position in the fast-growing adventure tourism sector.

These investments reflect BOA’s core mission: to responsibly develop Appalachia’s backroads into an engine for sustainable tourism, community revitalization, and long-term economic opportunity.
