A winding road, a valley full of color, and nowhere I’d rather be. 🍂

Fall in Appalachia makes it easy to take the long way home.

I spend a lot of time thinking about what’s next. Places like this remind me to slow down and enjoy where I am. 🍂

Fall in Appalachia will always be hard to beat.

Fall colors, winding backroads, and a table full of comfort food at Mim’s Kitchen. 🍂🥧

These are the stops that make exploring Appalachia special—the small businesses, the people behind them, and the places that make you want to slow down and stay awhile.

Take the scenic route, stop for a meal, and save room for dessert. Every local stop helps keep these communities thriving.

We were honored to see Backroads of Appalachia receive the Tourism of the Year Award at the 2026 SOAR Inspires Awards.

We passed the award on to Scott Alexander with Perry County because, without strategic partners like Scott, we wouldn’t be here today. His belief in our mission and willingness to help turn ideas into opportunities have made a lasting difference.

This recognition belongs to the communities, partners, and volunteers who keep showing up and moving Appalachia forward. We’re proud to share this moment with Scott and grateful to everyone who has helped us along the way.

Set up and ready for the SOAR Conference! 🏁⛰️

We’re bringing a little horsepower to the conversation about Appalachia’s future. From rally and drift cars to off-road adventure, our Backroads of Appalachia display showcases how motorsports can bring visitors, support small businesses, and create opportunities in our mountain communities.

Stop by, check out the lineup, and talk with us about what’s down the road for Appalachia!

Gravel roads, fall colors, and a pepperoni roll stop. That’s a good day in West Virginia. 🍂⛰️

Take your time, enjoy the view, and stop at the little local places along the way. They’re part of what makes exploring Appalachia so special.

The more time I spend riding motorcycles, the more I realize how many of the lessons apply to life.

Don’t look down. Keep your head up and focus on where you want to go.

Look through the turn instead of staring at whatever is right in front of you.

Mud and slick terrain will expose every rushed decision and every time you failed to plan ahead. Life has a way of doing the same.

Sometimes momentum is what carries me through. Other times, I need to slow down, take a breath, assess the situation, and choose a better line instead of rushing forward.

Throttle, clutch, and brake control matter—but so does learning to relax and letting the bike move beneath me. The tighter I hold on and the more I fight every movement, the harder the ride becomes.

Maybe the lesson I need most is this:

STAND UP WHEN THE TERRAIN GETS ROUGH.

I’ve encountered plenty of rough terrain—both on the bike and in life. I’m still learning, still adjusting, and still moving forward.
