Today in three weeks’ time, the Earldom of Watou takes over Antwerp. ⚜️

On Saturday 24 October, In Remembrance of the Earldom of Watou opens at Kunsthal Extra City, Guillaume Bijl’s first posthumous exhibition.

First presented in Watou in 2002, this exceptional work brings together a fictional-historical museum, a banquet hall and the only theatre piece in Bijl’s oeuvre. Twenty-four years later, it is reconstructed for the first time in the former Dominican church of Kunsthal Extra City.

The opening brings the work out into the city, too: with live performances, a tableau vivant featuring performers in medieval costume, medieval soup and a DJ set.

↳ Opening event: free & open to all
↳ No reservation needed for 24 October
↳ Limited capacity for the performances — first come, first served
↳ Performances on other Saturdays require a ticket

This was the 8th edition of The Image Generator! ✨

Our hearts are full! The pictures don't lie — the energy was real, the rooms were buzzing and what an incredible three days it was.

A huge thank you to all the artists, partners, crew and volunteers who made this edition possible and above all, to everyone who came and made the festival what it was.

See you next year!

Last night’s opening was one to remember: full house, great conversations, and work that stayed with us long after. Tonight and tomorrow are your chance to experience it too, with the artists themselves present, delicious drinks and fresh food from Falafel King and Karibu Mezani. It’s a great outing for the whole family too, and under-18s visit for free!

Haven’t secured a ticket yet? No need to worry, tickets are also available at the door. See you tonight or tomorrow!

Doors open in an hour! The Image Generator opens at 17:00, and we look forward to having you with us until 23:00. Haven’t got a ticket yet? No worries, tickets are also available at the door.

This eighth edition wouldn’t exist without the nineteen participating artists and collectives and their incredible work, nor without the many volunteers and helping hands working behind the scenes to bring it all together. A warm thank you to all of them, and to the teams of our organising partners @platform0090, @extra_city, @c.takt and @soap_maastricht.

After a short summer break, we open our doors again tomorrow — and we’re opening with a bang. The Image Generator, a multidisciplinary arts festival, lands here from 17 to 19 September. Nineteen artists, three days, one place to lose yourself in — and the artists themselves will be around all three days too.

Still on the fence? No need to decide now, tickets are also available at the door. Booking ahead does guarantee your spot, though.

Exciting news! A limited-edition LP by Cally Spooner will be available during The Image Generator, a tangible way to bring the work home.

Developed over eight years, ‘Deadtime’ comes to a close with ‘Deadtime Funeral’, conceived by Spooner for the church of Kunsthal Extra City, where the work persists as a ghostly sonic presence.

↳ TIG runs from September 17-19 at Kunsthal Extra City. Tickets and full programme via the link in bio.

This Thursday marks the opening of The Image Generator! Three days of theatre, visual art, sound and performance, and no two days will look the same, as each day builds on what the artists leave behind.

Please note: a number of performances have limited capacity and must be reserved in advance at the reception desk of Kunsthal Extra City. Full details on our website and in the program booklet. Come early if there’s one you don’t want to miss!
