*Stories from the Bodies* invite you to a place where music & poetry, words & sounds in their various shapes, shades, melodies, distortions & languages, emotions, urgencies and expressions intertwine and resonate opening up into one space, bringing you along into this ever-transforming breathing world of vulnerability, connection, resilience & shared hopes, stories and dreams. The act Stories from the Bodies will bring together six Rotterdam-based poets and musicians, connecting their creative paths, letting poetry & music embody each other through the moment shared with the bodies present.

This workshop aims to explore how music can be experienced beyond the ears—through touch, vibration, movement, and the body. By combining Ali Robertson's experience as a Neurodiverse, partially deaf and untrained musician with new approaches to tactile sound, we will aim to create music together that is accessible, engaging, and meaningful across diverse abilities.

Summer is almost over; time to go back to school, or better yet… to Extratonal! We kick off our second semester of extratonality this year with three thought-provoking performances. The Band on the spot: Jamming as art methodology workshop invites women, femmes and queers that are interested in punk, grunge and hard-rock sub-genres of art and music, to improvise with mediums of sound, text, drawing, performance.

The workshop, limited to five participants, doesn’t requite previous experience in music. The duration is two and a half hours. Soup will be served during the workshop followed by rest and reflection. The workshop is free, and prior registration is required through info@extratonal.org

During this workshop we will take a deep dive into existing online audio platforms, such as Soundcloud, Spotify and Bandcamp. While listening and sharing each other's music or sounds, we imagine an online community of enjoying each others sound files and sharing the process of their making. A community for listening to each other through tender ears and curiosity.

The workshop is facilitated by Varia members Danny Tirthdas Van Der Kleij and Mitsitron with the support of SocTalk.

This year, the Platform for Extratonality is organizing a series of programs in collaboration with some of its favorite artists. Our next guests are the interdisciplinary duo The Postpeople, with whom we'll be creating a very hot festival on the Brienenoord Island.

"Dear people of Rotterdam, hear-ye, we would like to informally invite you to a special Extratonal burning of energetic forces at the Buitenplaats on the Brienenoord Island. We are delighted and we are the Postpeople, the curators of this event. There will be real fire. Music. Merriment. Food. Laughs? Come and watch your ego dance in the flames? Please eat with us at the sixth hour of the day (18:00). Entertainment will commence at the seventh hour (19:00) provided by Eothen Stearn, Stéphane Béna Hanly and Arthur Chambry. If you wish to burn your ego in our bonfire, please bring along something you have made or found that represents it."
