One year ago today I left the U.S. to travel as a “digital nomad 😬” or whatever. I honestly did not have a plan or guide 🫣 (and still don’t haha) but I just knew that I wasn’t happy with my current life and knew that I needed more in order to find fulfillment. I left with the mindset that “either I will make this work - or I will make this work” 🤣🤣.

Well, so far so good. Cheers to more countries, more lessons, and more adventures! 🥂

So many people asked about the nightlife in Lisbon so check out my top recommendations!

📌 Lambe Lambe- great music and DJs. Fun crowd. Located on pink street. A bit touristy.

📌 Botanica- very spacious. Has a dance floor + table service available. Located in the Bairro Alto area of Lisbon which is another popular spot for bars/hanging out.

📌 Secret Garden- very down to earth vibe. Great spot to catch the sunset. Usually have live music. Met some really cool people here. ALSO had some bomb ass chicken wings here 🤣🤣

Afro Brazilian Culture tour

📌 Salvador, Bahia, is the “Atlanta” of Brazil. It’s Blackity Black Black! 86% of its population identify as Black/Negra

📌 Brazil was the last country in the Americas to abolish slavery (in 1888)

📌 Close to 5 million Africans were brought
to Brazil through the transatlantic slave trade, while the US received 388,000.

📌 Brazil had the largest number of enslaved Africans than any other country

📌 Only in 2003 did they begin to mandate that Afro history is taught in their schools

📌 Unlike the U.S., who criminalized interracial marriages, the Brazilian government actually encouraged it in an attempt to “whiten” the population.

📌 Additionally, the Brazilian government offered work opportunities and subsidized housing to Europeans (while denying these same opportunities to the formerly enslaved) in an attempt to dilute the existing Black population.
