Editing from deep in the archives.
"Every image embodies a way of seeing. Even a photograph. For photographs are not, as is often assumed, a mechanical record. Every time we look at a photograph, we are aware, however slightly, of the photographer selecting that sight from an infinity of other possible sights. This is true even in the most casual family snapshot. The photographer’s way of seeing is reflected in his choice of subject."
John Berger, Ways of Seeing

Well mother nature showed up and she held her water. No rain and those who showed up enjoyed a fine day. Thank you to everyone who showed up.

Once you make the photograph some might say that image is truth and it is. But isn't it also fiction? Depending on what the viewer brings to the image, what they see, which might be something the photographer never thought of.
And if you sequence two or more photos, arent you now creating fiction? Just some shit I think about.

“Photography for me is not looking, it’s feeling. If you can’t feel what you’re looking at, then you’re never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures.”

What strikes me about photography is that there's a desire to understand. A desire to understand ones self. Its a never ending quest in life.

This exerpt with a bit of my own editing, from photographic activist @richard_sharum I may have butchered his words a bit but I truly love his message about the power of photography. You can't or I cant just make "pretty pictures." When I heard him speak on the MOOD Podcast I connected immediately with his feeling on photography and why you do it.

"I have always believed that photography is the most powerful medium to convey, initiate and express empathy. As well as the most powerful tool to connect with other people.
If your photography is done correctly where your sense of composition, light and all those technical factors are all in line with you spirit, your soul and your heart, along with what you are pointing your camera at. Then you have that one shot to connect, if not, your picture can be, for the viewer, easily something not to pay attention to.
But if done well, of you heart, mind and medium are in sink, then you may just have the ability, the opportunity, to touch a bit of enlightenment, where you, the picture and the viewer get a better understanding of the world around them. by @eyetribe1
