Saying goodbye to my favorite piece I've ever made. I'm so in love with him but it's time to say goodbye. I'm proud of myself for this one and so touched by my people that showed up for this cause. We collectively raised $2,000 usd to go to the Colombian Red Cross.

When i first made this recreation i didn't realize his origins were Colombian let alone that he was made and found so close to my beloved Cali. I'm glad this ancient artwork is still able to serve its people more than 2,000 years after its creation.

Making art is so special and important and it's wild to see that it can have effects that echo beyond the simple joy of creating in the moment. Art is so human and i'm so grateful for it by @f___ceramics

ARTIST INTROS: Francesca “Chess” Smith

🌴 If Chess were a tropical animal, she would be a parrot! She is joining us from St Augustine, Florida. As a Colombian American, Chess feels lucky to have been exposed to Pre-Colombian motifs through the artists in her family. She draws inspiration from these classical designs for both handbuilt sculptural pieces, and line work decorations for thrown pieces.

🍍 Chess will be bringing bud vases, shot glasses & animal vessels/flasks inspired by Moche vessels of Peru having been known to carry Chicha, a fermented corn bevy (Chicha not included, sadly!)
