This was a good busy summer, capped off with a lovely @blackbirdspyplane feature of our work. The response to our last collection has been so gratifying. Thanks all. Here’s a preview of the new @faanware collection that’ll be available when we open tomorrow at 11am.

There’s a range of organic cotton T-shirts dyed with iron, madder root, indigo, chestnuts, and pomegranate peels.

(The ~sage green~ color (pomegranate peels) is currently an exclusive for the shop.)

There’s also jackets, pants, and shorts in deadstock linen and basketweave cotton alongside various Japanese microplaids and crinkle cottons. All together, the release is a beautiful grouping of complimentary colors in lightweight, natural fibers — perfect for building a summertime wardrobe.

@22by9 also made a run of 13 Mini Sumi Slings for the occasion – a perfect pouch for small necessary items, sewn and dyed by one person in El Cerrito.

From 3-7 we’ll be throwing a party with wine from Carlos Camacho of Snail Bar, izakaya by Pour Manners, and a live set from Mark Aubert (at 6)

We’re working with @greenmattersnaturaldyeco on core colors for our organic tees using botanicals like chestnuts and madder root. WE’RE OFF TO A GOOD START! We’ll restock the site in April but Bay Area friends can find these first two colors in Oakland @understoryshop and SF @space_craft_earth now by @faanware

We made illustrated postcards from our cotton t-shirt scraps!

Dreamed up this zero-waste solution for our cut-and-sew production waste with some very goopy trial and error at @morganpaper, a non-profit paper making studio in Cleveland. We figured out how to pulp the scraps into these trays and press them into heavy-stock postcards.

Then @nikkimokrzycki designed these incredible illustrations to celebrate three of the natural dyes we work with in our studio, MARIGOLD, INDIGO and DAFFODIL. She stamps each card and hand paints them with pigment extracted directly from the local dried plants by @oniondyestudio

Now, instead of sending our cotton scraps to compost, you can send a love letter to a friend~

Harvest and Steve invited us over and @nikkimokrzycki captured some late summer magic. I’d forgotten the pure joy of a backyard trampoline. We have a few indigo cloud kid tees left on our site.
