By inaugurating RUINA, Æ, a store of fragments of your civilization, Faber Lorne directly confronts the economic paradigm of “destruction-consumption” that dominates the global economy. By infiltrating, in the form of an artwork, a value chain largely monopolized by industries of destruction and material revalorization, RUINA, Æ subverts its codes and captures a symbolic share of this market. The artist does not reproduce this system: he reenacts it, displaces it, and renders it visible.
Through its ironic and incongruous dispositif, RUINA, Æ humbly seeks to question our relationship to consumption. This space — somewhere between a materials depot, an art gallery, and a neighborhood butcher shop — where fragments are piled up without hierarchy on a polished metal counter, immerses us in the heart of this exhausted economy, where values collapse as products proliferate. Derisory price tags, packaging machines, and a scale punctuate the installation, in a gesture that borders on irony within the field of contemporary art.
At RUINA, Æ, buying fragments of civilization amounts to reintroducing scarcity into a world where the abundance of ruins had dissolved it.

I never tought I will need to get this one out of drawer. Back in 1993, This was my one and only 11 years old birthday present. I wore it proudly for 10 years because in nineties skinheads were still in action. Then 20 years ago, in 2005, I felt like: " it is okay! The fight is over!" ... Lesson of the day: it is never over!

PERFECT BURNOUT by Gérard Meurant

Gérard Meurant's PERFECT BURNOUT inaugurates ÉDIFICE, a new space dedicated to contemporary art. The exhibition presents itself as an incantation against systemic exhaustion.

A wheel slowly spins at full speed, while banners with glitchy images impose a visual acceleration as the horizon. Time wavers. Here, even non-human entities seem affected. The atmosphere oscillates between gallery, garage, and sanctuary, saturated with tension and smoke.

A motorcyclist traces a circle on the ground, a precise, hypnotic 20-second gesture, representing a world spinning on empty. Burnout is a perfectly oiled, anxious loop.

A silver sun and a holographic LED watch over the exhibition once the "performance" is over.

PERFECT BURNOUT acts without explanation. It is a slow disruption in an overheated system. An overly busy day, where nothing seems accomplished.
