Sometimes the most meaningful moments of a trip are the ones you never plan. While renting scooters in Lombok, my friend @fabindio and I met two kids selling handmade bracelets by the road. Instead of just buying from them, we invited them to play football with us. One of the boys showed amazing skills, and it was clear how much he loved the game. After we finished, we asked if he owned a football. He said no. So while I kept playing with him, Fabiano went to buy one. When we gave it to him, the smile on his face said everything. And the truth is, this post isn’t about giving a gift. It’s about connection. Traveling becomes so much more meaningful when you slow down and meet the people who live there. Sometimes all it takes is a conversation, a shared laugh, or a simple game of football to remind us that, despite our different languages and backgrounds we have far more in common than we think. For us, buying a football was a small gesture, but maybe for him it means countless afternoons doing what he loves. Thank you, Fabiano, for sharing this experience with me. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love traveling. If you ever visit Indonesia or anywhere in the world, don’t just see the place, connect with the people. Those are the memories you’ll carry long after the trip is over. by @fabindio
