Kickstarted our Labor Day weekend off with the end of summer sailboat regatta with the Port Washington Yacht Club! The wind finally made an appearance and it was a gorgeous day on the lake!

It’s #ThrowbackThursday! In honor of the winery’s 47th anniversary this week, I had to share this picture I found of me and Fred, the Fred in Lynfred, circa 2000.

I was 25 years old, and had just moved from Texas to Illinois. He took me under his wing, and the Winery has become a part of my soul. I have made countless friends, on both sides of the bar, and it has shaped my life for the better.

As I always like to say, the wine industry is like a hug every day… hospitality runs in my veins. Cheers to a full glass! by @fabwinegal

As this day comes to a close, 25 years after September 11, I wanted to share this photo.

On every national flag holiday, Flags for Roselle places an American flag outside participating local businesses, including Lynfred Winery. Today, that flag felt especially meaningful.

I was 26, going on 27, when September 11 happened. Like so many Americans, I remember where I was, what I saw, and how it felt. We all have our stories from that day.

What struck me today is that we now have people working at the winery who are the same age I was then, yet they were too young to remember September 11, or weren’t even born yet.

It’s difficult to explain what those days felt like. There was unimaginable tragedy, fear and heartbreak. But amid it all, there were also extraordinary glimpses of love, courage, compassion and unity. We looked out for one another. We grieved together. We were simply Americans together.

As we close this 25th day of remembrance, I hope we carry a little of that part forward.

Be kind to one another. Look out for your neighbors. Remember what can unite us.

And never forget. 🇺🇸

This weekend’s sailboat race was a doozy, ladies and gentlemen! The annual Brat (as in bratwurst)🌭 race goes from Port Washington to Sheboygan, about 24 nautical miles. Seems like not very far, right? It takes our boat about 4-6 hours depending on the conditions.

It was very wavy, but extremely gorgeous out, with nothing on the radar… until something did show up on the radar. Let me tell you, that little blip was something else! 35-40 knots winds, pelting rain and hail. If you watch my reel, we did a ‘reenactment’, and I’m not lying, it was the scariest thing I have ever experienced! Lake Michigan is no joke, my friends!

After about 20 minutes of nerves, and a panting dog, whom I became the emotional support animal for, it was over, and it was back to being a perfect Midwest summer evening!

Needless to say, the stories at the yacht club post race were hilarious, and everyone got out their energy with karaoke, even Sadie came along! 🐾 And guess what? We even got a bratwurst to commemorate the Brat Run 🤣

It was fun to stay the night on our old dock (shout out to our E dock friends of yore) 🫶🏻. I was exhausted and was sleeping in our cabin by 9:30!

Sunday we sailed back with Casey and Taylor. We got to surf those five foot waves all the way back to Port Washington 🌊 ! Props to our crew Taylor, Brian, Scott, SADIE 🐾, and my captain, Hans! taken in Lake Michigan by @fabwinegal
