FF Projects is pleased to announce Yet The Great Life Continues, a duo show by artists Fadekemi Ogunsanya and Agnes Waruguru, and the fifth presentation within FF Projects’ year-long residency at Alára.

Their use of textile is perhaps the most obvious affinity between the two artists’ work– a parallel between two opposite African coasts, East and West. Contemporary interpretations of their countries’ traditional cloth become an eloquent means through which to reveal inner landscapes. The Kanga for Waruguru, the Adire Eleko for Ogunsanya. Yet, as evidenced by the title of the show, the two artists find themselves at similar points in their lives and work. Whatever one may choose to call it; transformation, the soul journey, becoming, the ongoing process of self discovery. Both bodies of work are preoccupied with this question, insufflated with the inner life, unspoken thoughts, and growing pains of the artists.

Meet the finalists of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize ahead of the exhibition in Singapore this summer.

One of our 30 shortlisted artists is Fadekemi Ogunsanya with the piece, ‘We Are Not Lying, Your Language Is Not Enough’.

Multidisciplinary artist Fadekemi Ogunsanya is based between Lagos and London. Trained as an architect, her work explores how structure and ornament shape emotion and memory. Her paintings often extend beyond the canvas with hand-painted, laser-cut frames. Her textile practice has been a process of unlearning simplified colonial hierarchies of ‘craft’ by researching and reclaiming symbolic, cultural and mythological intelligence. Weaving together personal history and collective memory, Ogunsanya believes material, craft and storytelling can foster newfound forms of connection.

National Gallery Singapore will host the Craft Prize exhibition from 13 May until 14 June 2026. by @fade.0707

I am honoured to share that I am a finalist for the LOEWE Craft Prize 2026.

My submitted work, “We Are Not Lying, Your Language Is Not Enough” draws on traditional Adire Eleko techniques, combined with embroidery and beading. I was drawn to this practice as an act of research and preservation.
I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a tradition shaped by Yoruba women, and to see it recognised on a global stage.

A Miracle is a Reasonable Thing To Ask For by Fadekemi Ogunsanya, first show of @ff_projects_ year-long residency @alaralagos 💙

Building on Ogunsanya’s continued interest in folklore, gender, and the female psyche, A Miracle is a Reasonable Thing To Ask For reimagines the Yoruba legend of Oluronbi. In the tale, Oluronbi, unable to conceive, forges a pact with Iroko, an ancient tree inhabited by a powerful spirit who grants blessings in exchange for sacrifice. She vows that if she is given a child, she will return the gift. When her wish is fulfilled, she breaks her promise, unable to surrender her first child, and is forced to reckon with the spirit of the Iroko tree. The legend confronts ideas that resonate throughout Ogunsanya’s practice, reckoning with questions of power and sacrifice, reflecting on the spiritual and emotional cost of womanhood.

While Ogunsanya’s early works combined oil, gouache, and watercolor with hand-painted, carved wooden frames– collapsing the boundary between painting and sculpture– her recent turn to textiles marks a deeper engagement with her Yoruba heritage.
