And idk about you, but I all I wanted to do was TALK about Zodiac Academy while I was reading it.

Have you heard about that study where people estimated the difficulty of climbing up a hill as significantly easier when doing it with a friend?! Like…. A huge challenge was literally perceived as easier JUST because a bestie was with them?! 😱

The challenge itself didn’t change… objectively, it’d physically take the same amount of effort, time, risk, etc, but because they had someone they love and trust and respect with them they perceive the challenge as easier 🥹

This finding is so beautiful to me because it perfectly highlights why friendship (and really all relationships, including community) is foundational to our happiness, well-being, and living fulfilling lives.

If anything is inevitable, it’s that life will have challenging moments that feel like they’ll break you 😩

You don’t know how you’ll make it through.

You’re one moment away from collapse.

And then your friend asks you to read a book about a girl that goes into the woods alone, kills a wolf, has an incredible journey of self-discovery, forgiveness, and resilience … and it saves you.

On the surface, that seems like a joke, but if you’ve ever been in that space, the one where all you can think about is giving up, you know it’s not.

And it’s also not just the stories that save us.

It’s feeling understood and seen and connecting over these stories with other people. It gives us the words and safety to be vulnerable with our inner worlds.

Beyond survival and connection though, there’s this next level too.

Which is being brave and creating a life you truly want.

One that feels magical and huge and electric.

Ones I believe are inspired by our books, but are followed through with the help of our friends.

Pursuing a dream, learning a new skill, writing a book, (starting a podcast 🤭) with your best friend, doesn’t reduce the work, but it sure makes it less scary.

Building and creating and being inspired by our friends is the most human thing we can do ❤️

One of the things I love about finding fantasy again, is reconnecting with girlhood. To be lost in the magic of possibility. To be curious about what could happen next. To have friendships based on joy and play and fun and not just practicality.
