In 2017 my friend @scotttchan and I were very honored to be asked to make some films for the National Museum of African American History and Culture. The theme was “A People’s Journey.” It was days before the Trump 1 inauguration when went to Washington to visit the museum and meet with their staff and it was incredibly rich and affecting. We were so motivated to tell this story, informed by the museum, as powerfully as we possibly could, using our skills as artists to push back against what was happening. I couldn’t imagine then being in this place now, 8 years later, as this story is on the verge of being eradicated by the current administration. I’m resharing this not because I have authorship over this story, but as a call to artists to locate that feeling we have had of using our art to push back— and to remember the power we have to share stories and make people feel. It is fucking overwhelming now but we can still do this. This video is NOT available for download on YouTube and may not remain there at all for long, but I hope folks will share it, if you feel compelled to do so, so that it will live beyond the reach of their fascist clutches. Many thanks to DRAM for the music and all credits (for now) at https://youtu.be/wUuSYpW4ZIo?feature=shared by @fagogo

It’s a big deal that Bob Baker Marionette Theater made it to 60! I was on the board back when we had to use IG to ask the community to save the Theater. And you really showed up and now here we are! Since I’ve been Co-Executive Director I’ve been seeing this big bright light that is the future of what we can do. So we’re asking our community to show up on our birthday and help us get there. Go on, give us a gift!! Link is in the bio. HUGE thanks to everyone who helped with this video!! @ko @yeahyeahyeahs @jackblack @laraaji_official @katemicucci @timheidecker @monsqueeze @mistersattler by @fagogo

If you can’t tell by my very excited expression, I am very happy to share that I am joining the magical makers of joy at Bob Baker Marionette Theater. After many years on the board at BBMT, participation creating cultural projects at Machine Project and @oxyarts and following my departure from my beloved @imprintprojects, it was a revelation that I could have the chance to apply all of my experience to this special place of imagination and puppetry arts. My role will focus on Development (Fundraising, Membership, and Special Events) and overall internal Strategic Planning in partnership with long-time ED, Alex Evans. On hearing the news, so many of my friends responded that they could not imagine a better job for me, and I could not agree more. Check out some of my fave puppets in the feed, remember why you love this place, and expect to hear from me on ways you can collaborate, support and show up in the near future!! Last days and last post for F L O W ! The final day is tomorrow for Optics at @oxyarts. I’ve described this installation to young people as ‘being inside a camera’. For others you just need to know it’s an immersive experience of a Camera Obscura! Open today and tomorrow until 4. So many thanks to the team at OxyArts!!
