The set for Acne Studios Women’s Spring/Summer 2027 was conceived as a collision of histories.

At its core was the idea of a “new romantic shipwreck,” inspired by Vasa — the 17th-century Swedish warship that sank on its maiden voyage in 1628, remained on the seabed for 333 years, and was raised in 1961, remarkably preserved.

Jonny Johansson imagined the ship colliding with the grandeur of Versailles — bringing preservation and decay, the historical and the theatrical into the same space. That tension also runs through Denim Hystoria, where historical dress meets denim and familiar forms are reimagined in unexpected ways.

Within this world, Faig Ahmed’s carpet works became an integral part of the scenography, appearing to melt into the memories they carry, transforming familiar forms into something fluid, unstable, and new.

Set within the historic Collège des Bernardins, Doubts and Shams of Tabriz became part of the atmosphere and visual language of the show.

Entropy Altar explores the boundaries between quantum uncertainty and human perception.

Rather than functioning as a static object, the artwork operates as a generative process. You are not merely a witness — the artwork unfolds in real time, responding sensitively to your presence and creating a unique experience for every visitor.

In our current issue, we speak with Faig Ahmed, the artist representing Azerbaijan (@azerbaijan.pavilion.venice) at the 61st Venice Biennale (@labiennale).

The artist speaks to us about his exhibition entitled ‘The Attention’, which showcases seven works across seven rooms in the Campo de la Tana, reimagining the traditional art of Azerbaijani carpet-making, playing with form and function in a contemporary interpretation of this heritage craft.

Ahmed also shares how his artistic practice has evolved since he first represented Azerbaijan at the Venice Biennale in 2007 and how this cycle reflects his own artistic journey.

“From Sketch to Carpet” is a new collaborative collection by Faig Ahmed Studio and @azerxalca.carpets exploring the transformation of a simple hand-drawn line into a handwoven masterpiece.

Each piece begins as a spontaneous sketch, preserving the energy and immediacy of the original gesture. Through the incredible skill of Azerkhalcha’s master weavers, these raw drawings are translated into woven works that blend contemporary art with centuries-old Azerbaijani traditions.
This collection celebrates the dialogue between drawing and textile, concept and craftsmanship, proving that heritage techniques can be the perfect canvas for modern expression.
