The XX FIles
• Women can be each other’s greatest cheerleaders - provided nobody gets too far ahead.
• “I’m only saying this because I care” is sometimes the female equivalent of a guided missile.
• "I didn't say anything because I was too shocked/outraged/polite" translated is "I really enjoyed seeing you nailed to a cross".
• A compliment can be delivered with such precision that you need three days to realise you were insulted.
• When a girlfriend suddenly ghosts you, don’t panic. She isn’t busy. She is planning an offensive. Or you've outlived your usefulness.
• Nothing bonds women quite like mutual dislike. It is one of the strongest forces in the universe.
• A woman will forgive you for sleeping with her man sooner than she can forgive you for looking fabulous while doing absolutely nothing.
• Beware the girlfriend who tells you absolutely everything. Once you know too much, the friendship can become a liability - and suddenly she has a very personal interest in making sure you never have enough friends to disclose her secrets to.
• Keep a quiet tally of the women who compliment every woman in the room except you. That isn’t forgetfulness, darling. That is open aggression with excellent manners.
• When a woman decides she dislikes another woman she begins a determined research project to create a focus group that gives her the marketing results she wants.
• No amount of kindness, generosity or helpfulness will make a genuinely jealous woman like you. You could save her life and she’d still resent you for the shade of lipstick you wore while doing it.
• Some women will happily love you - right up until they decide you are more popular, more successful or simply more happy than they are. Then, apparently, your greatest crime is having the audacity to live your life without consulting their self-esteem.
• And then there are the real girlfriends - no head games, no ghosting, no competition, no beating the drum on both sides, no aggression disguised as "I'm straightforward".  With a spine and a brain. And a heart. Hang on to her. Thank your god for her. And try to be her. by @fairydustandcigarettes

SPENDING ON WEALTH

We use our coins on fleeting things
On silver shoes and golden rings
But journeys leave a brighter trace
They stitch the soul with time and place

For every road and distant shore
Returns you home with something more
Not wealth that fades or rusts with years
But brings fuller hearts and wiser tears

You learn to take life with open hands
As your soul evolves in foreign lands
Yes, every mile you wander through
Leaves some new light on in you

For travel is the only thing you buy
That makes you richer as years go by

Thank you, UK and Belgium. I had a glorious time... until next time. 🥰 #traveller #holiday #lovinglife #worldwide #travel by @fairydustandcigarettes

The Spoken Word | A Women’s Day Special
On March 8th, Inside 43 hosted a spoken word gathering inspired by “The Naked Indian Woman”, a book by Sangeetha Shinde Tee.

Women came together to recite, reflect and give voice to stories often left unheard. It was an evening of expression, vulnerability and strength.

For all those who were a part of the gathering, thank you for being there and helping us create an environment where women felt heard and acknowledged. It means a lot to us!

The Gift Of Friendship

An evening glowing with laughter bright,
Easy warmth and shared delight,
They draw you in, they let you be,
No guarded walls, just honesty.
They laugh with you, they stand for you
They show their love in all they do
They defend your name, cheer every win,
They're the keepers of your soul within.
And in those hours, so warm and kind,
You leave the heavy world behind,
For through life’s bitter twists and bends,
It also gifts you some faithful friends.

Thank you @ramyaredy

Until next time...❤️

OZEMPIC FOR THE SOUL
If they want your help, but keep excluding you from things
You're their strength when they falter, but they want to clip your wings
If they reach for your ladder, yet cut at its base,
Climbing your kindness while erasing your place.
If they borrow your light but deny you the flame,
They never give thanks, nor fiercely defend your name
If they watch while another sharpens the knife,
Saying nothing, while someone dismantles your life;
If silence becomes the shield that they complicity wear,
Know that indifference is actually betrayal laid bare
If apologies come with no shift in the deed,
Then the sorrow is theatre, and the truth you must read
If their social safety matters more than what’s right,
If comfort with crowds is valued over loyalty's might.
If they choose approval in rooms where your name's on the rack
Then they're only with you to help pave their own track
If their circle is woven with those who resent your game
Those who diminish, distort, reinvent and tarnish your name
And still they sit smiling, laughing in easy accord,
Then that silence itself is a quietly drawn sword.
If your wins are their loss, and your rise is their woe
It's your time to decide who's a friend, and who's a foe
And the fastest way to figure out a person's soul
Is to treat them well and then see how they roll
So watch who stands up when your name fills the hall
Who guards you from whispers that hope for your fall
See who offers you balance, who meets you halfway,
See who honours your giving by choosing to stay
These are your people - your fiercely held ground,
The rare ones whose support is based in action and sound
Who thank you in daylight, defend you in view,
Who return what you give with a heart that’s true
For the rest - give the gift they richly deserve
The quiet departure of the favours you serve
Give absence, not anger; let distance be proof
That reciprocity is the soil where friendship takes root
And remember this truth, it's never too late
That walking away is the only response to hate
So, shedding unwanted kilos of people who've shown greed
Is the only weight loss programme that you'll ever really need by @fairydustandcigarettes

FLIGHT MODE

The hard part is not that you always long
For the unknown place, the faceless throng
To chase those skies you’ve never known
Or claim distant roads as your own.
The hardest part is returning to,
What once you called home - no longer you
For every journey's made you aware
That you belong neither here nor there
Each border crossed has left a hole
Each view has chained your yearning soul.
You leave complete, but return unsure -
Rewritten, restless and less secure.
Yet in those jagged cracks new roots begin,
And you learn your home has always been the world within.

Strike the Match

They told her softly, “Lower your gaze,
Good girls move through obedient days.
Good girls are fragrant, folded, polite,
Never the spark. Never the light.”

Good girls are jasmine pinned in their hair,
Breathing in silence, perfuming the air.
Good girls are lungs that never protest,
Hearts held quietly inside the chest.

But she found a match in the dark of her palm,
Struck it against every rule dressed as calm.
Not for the craving, or the nicotine glee
But to break the chains of patriarchy

Men lit cigars in rooms thick with power,
Smoked through decisions, hour by hour.
Ash fell lightly on polished floors
While women waited outside their doors.

Smoke from their mouths meant status and right,
Authority curled in blue-grey light.
But smoke from a woman - scandal and sin,
A warning that something wild was within.

So she lifts that flame with deliberate grace,
And holds rebellion close to her face.
An ember glowing like a watchful eye,
Daring the old, tired laws to die.

Each rising spiral, silver and slow,
Whispers she now chooses her own glow
Her breath is hers, in her skin, her name.
And her body is no longer your moral frame..

So let others whisper behind her back
Let patriarchy fester on rebellion's rack
If smoke unsettles the throne they built,
Perhaps it was fashioned from fear and guilt.

So, maybe she’ll quit when the point is made.
Maybe she won’t,  but she's not your crusade.
The lesson burns brighter than ash or flame
And a glowing end is her win in this game

For sometimes freedom can be quite small and stark,
It's a woman alone with a lighter - in the dark.
