Throughout D.C. for the past six months, you may have seen fenced off public spaces with large signs advertising the slogan “Safe and Beautiful”. One of these spaces is Freedom Plaza a.k.a. Pulaski Park located in the heart of downtown. This plaza has been an international hub for skateboarding for the past four decades. The new nearly $10 million renovations to the plaza includes the incorporation of metal caps or “skate-stoppers” to the ledges in order to deter skaters from using the space. In June 2026, curators Greg Russell Jr. and Danny Cappello are coming together to exhibit a group show at Homme Gallery on L Street exploring the symbolic conflict between institutional order and individual curiosity revolving around creative-destructive forces using spaces outside their intended use. Featuring artists from Washington D.C. to Seoul, Korea, “Hidden in Plain Sight” opens Thursday, June 18, 7-9 P.M. at Homme Gallery at 2000 L Street N.W., Washington D.C. The show runs till 25th of June, with a closing reception/artist talk June 25, 7-9 P.M.

Featuring: Skyler Kelly, Jose Guzman, Gabby Ramos-Ames, Mahi Tim, Donghee Yoo, Brad Rosado, Danny Cappello, Greg Russell Jr., George Hanuschak, Michael Cokinos, Wayne Morrison, Dave Dawson, Jake Smith, Reese Baldwin, Smalls, Rob Fall, and Jimmy Pelletier.

Gallery hours: June 19 - 24, 3-8PM or by appointment. taken in Washington, D.C. by @fake_mountain
