In our previous post, we looked at this case study from @fakro_danmark, featuring two different Type G flat roof windows.

Here’s a closer look at what was used in each space:

🏠 Hallway - DXG P2 100 × 150cm,
This is a non-opening, double-glazed flat roof window, bringing natural light into a hallway that would otherwise have lacked daylight.

🍽️ Kitchen & dining area – DEG P2 Z-Wave 120 × 220cm,
An electrically operated, double-glazed flat roof window. Comes with a rain sensor as standard, automatically closing the window when rain is detected. It can also be operated via remote control or wall switch.

✨ Why Type G?
Our best-selling flat roof window range is available in bespoke sizes, with the option to specify the internal and external finish in any colour from the standard RAL palette.

Name something more therapeutic than the sound of rain on a roof window… 🌧️

With summer officially over, we’re welcoming more of those cosy, rainy days.

So grab a blanket, get comfy and enjoy the sound of autumn from the comfort of home. 🍂🤎

It’s not just about adding more daylight. It’s about thinking about where that light is needed and how it can transform the way a room feels.

❗The challenge:
This flat roof home needed a way to bring plenty of natural light into the open-plan kitchen and dining area, while the hallway had no vertical windows and risked feeling darker and more enclosed.

💡The solution:
Two Type G flat roof windows were carefully positioned to bring daylight in from above. One brightening the kitchen and dining area, and the other bringing much-needed natural light into the hallway.

FAKRO's role:
The clean, minimal design of the FAKRO flat roof windows allows them to blend seamlessly into the ceiling, while the pre-assembled upstand makes installation easier and helps create a neat external finish.

Come back next Wednesday for a closer look at the two different Type G flat roof windows used in this project!

Adding privacy to a home doesn't mean you have to compromise on light. @ian.mcgregor.architects turned challenges into opportunities with this family home in central Aberdeen ⭐

❗The challenge:
The existing kitchen and garden felt enclosed and disconnected, offering little privacy from neighbouring properties.

💡The solution:
Completely demolishing the old kitchen and reimagining the layout with a larger, open-plan, single-storey extension, orientated towards the garden. Expansive bi-folding doors frame the outdoor view and create a seamless connection between inside and out, while solid boundary walls maintain privacy.

FAKRO's role:
To maximise daylight without compromising on privacy, the design incorporates four FAKRO electrically operated, double-glazed flat roof windows.

Come back next Wednesday for a closer look at which flat roof windows were used in this project!

ad The best decision I made in our renovation was installing these Z-WAVE solar roof windows by @fakrogb all through our extension and loft conversion. With a click of a button I can easily open the window to let the heat out!

And I’ve been able to keep pesky flies out too with the insect screen!
