More progress on the roof... Roof lights going in (thanks Arian Palushi!), plus next layers applied over the woodfibre sheathing; breather membrane (blue stuff), timber battens and 'sarking' boards, @metalsolutions roofing membrane (aka spaghetti or hairy chest matting!), @lindabgroup 'Magestic' galvanised steel panels, and then some solar panels (more about them later).

We considered using a factory-formed standing seam system for the metal - and I even went on an installer's course to learn how to fit it. But in the end we went with the more traditional site-formed method as the costs were very similar and it meant we could choose from a wider range of finishes. We chose galvanised (zinc plated) steel as it's cheaper than pure zinc but will age in a natural way - and is just as shiny! After a bit of a wait for the rolls of metal to arrive from Sweden, they were then followed by the various bits of machinery, along with our highly skilled father-and-son installers Peter and Stuart (with @southeastzincroofing)

And as that roof went on, the temporary scaffold roof could come down. Which feels like a good time to mention Jack and his team at @jlc_scaffolding who did a great job.
