Did you know our new “Characters” wallpaper pattern was originally curtains? Hand-painted circa 1950 by artist Agnes Sanchez, “Characters” features the sketchbook drawings of family, friends, and people seen around her. Painted directly onto 6 panels of cotton canvas, each panel unique, each person with a story to tell.

Working with the daughter of the artist, jewelry designer Gabrielle Sanchez, Fallingstar has recreated this pattern for wallpaper that is as charming and unique as the artist’s original work.

Shown here:
1. circa 1958: The artist, Agnes Sanchez (right), seen in front of her curtain
2. circa 1978: The curtains still hanging at a family gathering
3. 2026: “Characters” by Fallingstar in Ink, the artist’s original color palette by @fallingstar_studio

NOW AVAILABLE! “Characters” by artist Agnes Sanchez
Fresh out of art school, Agnes didn’t have much money but she had a lot of talent and sketchbooks full of characters, so she decorated her first home with hand-painted curtains. We worked with her daughter, jewelry designer Gabrielle Sanchez, to bring her art back to life. Our wallpaper is available in three colorways: Fig, Ink, and Paprika. Which character are you?
