💅🏾💅🏾#Throwback Thursday: I’m a PR & authority expert who practices what I preach.

Because credibility isn’t just about what you say you’ve achieved. It’s about having a public record of it.

I may have only started showing up properly on Instagram recently but my body of work - and the third-party proof behind it - goes back years.

These articles are from 2023 and 2021. They’re part of a bigger trail of evidence that exists beyond my own claims.

If you’re building a reputation, you want people to be able to look you up and find the receipts.

And speaking of receipts…

Started from the bottom. Now we’re here. 🎶

At 16, I’d had a baby and was earning £2.60 an hour at a Saturday job. At 19, I flunked my A-levels.

I’ve built a six-figure business. I’ve lost it. I’ve had to start again.

And I’ve learned that entrepreneurship isn’t about having the perfect start — or never falling apart.

It’s about having the self-belief and resilience to keep going.

To start again.

And again.

And again.

This is an intro to my story and I’m just getting started 💪🏾 #publicrelations #authority #originstory #startingover by @fameprqueen

🥰🥰 I’m rebuilding my life & business at 44 and I’m a bit embarrassed to admit:

1️⃣ I still don’t own my own home. I know it shouldn’t matter but I cant help feel I should have achieved that by now.

2️⃣ I was defrauded twice after leaving my job in 2012, losing half my redundancy pay. My son told me to invest in Bitcoin. I put £15k into the scams, £152 into Bitcoin. If I’d invested the other way, I’d be a millionaire.

3️⃣ The money I lost, could have paid the deposit for my first home. The half Bitcoin? I lost the password and haven’t found it since.

4️⃣ I’m a course addict. I’ve spent tens of thousands convincing myself “this course is the one that will change everything” only for it to gather dust on my digital shelf because my problem isn’t knowledge. Its execution.

5️⃣ Sometimes I get my assistant to open & read emails to me when I’ve had to assert myself because my RSD has me terrified of the response.

6️⃣ Since my adenomyosis diagnosis last year, I still haven’t found a way to sustainably grow my business. I’m in pain, fatigued or recovering for most of my cycle and during a flare I don’t leave bed for days. I feel like I’m constantly starting again.

7️⃣ After building a six-figure business, I had to step back to care for my parents and eventually needed government support. It took a long time to appreciate that accepting help was nothing to be ashamed of.

Pushing to create a better life for my family than the one I had growing up hasn’t been without challenge. I’ve made mistakes, though wiser through experience.

My greatest learning is the biggest payoff has always come from backing myself and trusting the process.

I don’t yet have it figured all out but I have faith and I’ve learned to dance in the rain Follow along if you can relate 💖#growth #storytellingcontentchallenge by @fameprqueen

Delayed is not denied ❤️

It took me SIX YEARS to build my business to six figures.

Not six weeks. Not six months. Six YEARS.

And in between? Depression. A near-fatal accident. Two pregnancies. Chronic pain. Rejection. Financial struggles and a period when I genuinely wondered whether my dreams were over.

When I first started my business, I was surrounded by flash coaches promising six and seven figures if I just followed their formula.

Sell more. Scale big. Build a huge audience.

Except I didn’t want to work with hundreds of people. I wanted to work with a handful of brilliant women and help them do extraordinary things.

I spent way too long thinking I was behind because I wasn’t doing it their way.

At 33, pregnant with my third child, struggling with pelvic girdle pain and unable to sit at a desk to work, I ended up needing government assistance.

Three years later, I hired the coach who changed my perception of what was possible for me. Doing business my way.

Within six weeks, I’d made my first £6K. The year after that, I built my business to six figures.

It wasn’t overnight. It wasn’t linear. It wasn’t easy.

But it happened.

So, if you’re watching everyone else seemingly race ahead whilst you’re still trying to find your feet, please hear this:

Your timeline is not their timeline.
Their way doesn’t have to be your way.
And being further behind than you’d hoped doesn’t mean you’re never going to get there.

You’re not in competition with anyone else, only the woman you were yesterday.
I believe more good women deserve to have money. Not just to change their own lives but to change the lives of the people, communities and causes they care about.

Delayed is not denied. Your story is still unfolding.

And if you needed this reminder today, consider this your sign to keep going ❤️

🫠🫠 For a long time, I was better at building other people’s profiles than my own.

For three years, I’ve been caring for my parents. Somewhere in the middle of advocating, managing, fighting, just trying to keep everything together, I lost myself.

Professionally? I’d built a business where discretion was part of the job. I worked behind the scenes, helping other people become known, often without being able to talk publicly about the work I was doing .

My business relied heavily on referrals. My clients had the visibility. I was the person helping them get it.

I was damn good at it. I still am.

But when you spend years putting other people’s names, reputations and personal brands out into the world, while yours takes a back seat, coming back to build your own can feel terrifying.

Especially when the world has changed. Social media has changed. The way people build visibility has changed.

And even when you’ve got the receipts, the experience and the results, there’s still that little voice asking:

What if I can’t get back to where I was?

I’m sharing this because I suspect I’m not the only one.

Maybe you’ve spent years building something, only for life to take you somewhere you never expected to go.

Maybe you’ve put your own ambitions on hold while you looked after everyone else.

Maybe you know exactly what you’re capable of, but you’re scared to put yourself out there again.

I’m not here to pretend I’ve got it all figured out. I’m figuring it out as I go.

But maybe we don’t need to become the women we used to be.

Maybe we’ve grown, learned and lived too much for that.

Maybe we just need to stop letting the fear of what might happen next keep us from finding out.

If you’re finding your way back to yourself, your work, your ambition or the thing you thought you’d lost, consider this your space, too.

Let’s root for each other.

We’re not past it. We’re not finished and we don’t have to be who we were to become everything we’re capable of being ❤️ #startingoveragain #genx #eldermillennial #womensupportingwomen by @fameprqueen

💖💖 You’re not building a business just to make money.

Like me, there’s something deeper that drives you.

Your business is an extension of your creativity. A way to turn the things in your head into something real. A way to contribute. To make a difference. To help people.

Of course you want it to provide for you and your family. But if money were the only reason, you probably wouldn’t keep going when things get tough.

Because even when the business isn’t paying you what you want it to, you’re still an entrepreneur.

You keep coming back to it because there’s something in you that wants to build.

Maybe it’s a dream you had as a child.
Maybe it’s the freedom you want.
Maybe it’s the impact you want to have.
Maybe you just know there’s more you’re capable of.

I don’t think women who choose business are better than women who choose something else.

This is just our way.

For me, one of the best parts of building my own business is being able to use everything I’ve learned to help other women build theirs.

So if you’re building something that feels like an extension of who you are, not just a way to make a living…

I see you.

What are you really building — and why? ❤️ #womeninbusiness #womensupportingwomen #womenentrepreneurs by @fameprqueen

😆😆 As a business owner you might recognise more of this than you’d like to admit 😂

The highs.
The lows.
The “what the actual f&ck am I doing?” moments.

You can have built something amazing, made it further than most people ever will and still wonder what the hell comes next.

Sometimes you’re proud of how far you’ve come.
Sometimes you’re wondering how much longer you can keep pushing through.

The business. The bills. The decisions. The family. The responsibility. The pressure.

Maybe life made you step away. Maybe you’ve had to rebuild. Maybe you’re back on the up, but still nowhere near where you want to be.

Still building.
Still figuring things out.
Still occasionally thinking “This is some bullsh*it”😂

That’s the thing nobody tells you:

Success doesn’t mean everything becomes easy.

You can love your business and still be exhausted by it.
You can be proud of yourself and still question everything.
You can want more without dismissing how far you’ve already come.

Sometimes you’re not struggling because you’re doing it wrong.

Sometimes you’re struggling because you’re carrying a lot.

But here’s what I wouldn’t trade:

My life is mine.

I get to build around my life, not squeeze my life around a job. I get to be there for my kids, care for my parents and make decisions without asking someone else’s permission.

It’s not always easy.
It’s definitely not always financially comfortable. 😂
But it’s mine.

And after 13 years, I wouldn’t trade that freedom for the world.

So if you’re a Gen X or elder millennial entrepreneur who’s achieved a lot but still feels like you’re figuring it out…

You’re not behind. You’re not starting from scratch. You’re starting from experience ❤️ #entrepreneurship #startingover by @fameprqueen

Truth is, some days the house wins.
Some days the business wins.
Some days I feel pulled in two directions and neither one gets my full attention.

And still, I’m building.
Still showing up.
Still creating a life that looks nothing like the polished version I thought I needed.

The messy house, the laptop, the voiceover, the children, the work - it’s all part of the same life.
Not a failure.
A real one.

If you’re a woman who feels guilty for not doing motherhood and business perfectly, you’re not alone.

🎯🎯 13 years in PR has taught me apologies can make or break a reputation.

And @sabrinawashington latest statement is a fascinating example of how to get one right 👌🏾

It’s not perfect - it doesn’t need to be.

It’s human.

It acknowledges impact, explains without making excuses, takes responsibility, backs words with action — and gives people a way forward.

I’ve pulled out 7 key things Sabrina’s statement got right☝🏾

From the feedback received it appears I’m not the only one who thinks that way.

The question isn’t whether you’ll ever get your comms wrong.

It’s will you know how to handle when you do? #pr #crisiscommunications #celebritynews by @fameprqueen

🤔🤔Would you be ready if you got the chance to gift an A-Lister?

Early in my PR career, I managed to get through to the agent of a Hollywood star who agreed to receive a gift from my client.

I did my thing: found the deets, made the connection, created the opportunity, got the YES…

Then my client got spooked and never sent the gift.

At the time, I couldn’t get my head around it. Who wouldn’t grab that opportunity with both hands?

In hindsight, I realised:

Wanting an opportunity and being ready for it, are two totally different things.

I don’t mean that as a criticism. They just weren’t ready for that opportunity at that time.

The bigger lesson for me: I wasn’t experienced enough to recognise readiness needed to be part of our PR strategy too.

This doesn’t just apply to gifting.

It’s TV interviews
Getting invited into the room
Going viral
Suddenly getting 50k enquiries
Receiving 500 orders when you’ve only ever processed 20

Sometimes securing the opportunity is the easy bit. Being able to handle what happens afterwards requires more thought.

Are you ready for the attention?

Can your team support you? Can your website cope? Can you fulfil the demand? Would you know what to do with the new opportunities that follow?

Vision-boarding is one thing.

Building the capacity to receive the thing is another.

That experience changed how I work with clients. Emotional, mental and operational readiness — became part of the PR strategy, not an afterthought.

Yes, I still occasionally wonder what might have happened if that gift had actually been sent.

Maybe the A-lister would have loved it, been pictured with it, shared my clients deets with friends.

Maybe it would have opened more doors.

Maybe I’d own my private jet by now 😂

We’ll never know.

But I do know this:

A big opportunity isn’t automatically valuable because it’s offered.

It’s valuable when you’re ready and able to do something with it.

That’s one of the biggest lessons PR ever taught me.

We can’t just prepare to be seen.
We also need to prep for what comes after. #povreel #pr #celebritygifting #celebrity #publicistlife by @fameprqueen

🤩🤩 @emmagrede s invite was never just about success…

It was about profile, reputation, ecosystem and positioning. Something @tarakeeney has mastered in an incredibly short space of time.

Because there’s a difference between being successful…

…and being someone whose name makes sense in the room.

That’s the part most businesswomen are never taught.

They’re taught how to build an audience.
How to get visible.
How to create content.

But not how to build the kind of public profile that creates access.

Because PR, done properly, isn’t just about getting you seen.

It’s about making you recognisable, credible and relevant to the rooms you want to be in.

If you want your name to open doors, your PR strategy has to do more than generate attention.

It has to make you the obvious choice.

Follow for more demystifying of PR, influence and giving PR the PR it deserves. #pr #publicrelations #emmagrede #tarakeeney #aseatatthetable by @fameprqueen

🥹🥹 Dear younger me,

I know you thought you’d have it all figured out by now.

You haven’t.

But… you did build a business.

You became a publicist - just like in Ab Fab! Can you believe it?!

You wrote a book.

You’ve worked with some of the most amazing people (most you can’t talk about but trust me you’ve blown your own socks off) and helped create opportunities that put them in rooms, on stages, in front of audiences they may never have reached without you.

And somewhere along the way, something pretty special happened.

That little girl who once scared to put herself out there became a woman whose life’s work is about helping other people do exactly that.

At 12 you wrote a poem saying you wanted to make a difference in the world.

Perhaps you just didn’t know what that would look like.

There’s still so much I want to do and achieve.

A lot I’ve yet to build.

Some things I’m unsure I want to progress with yet.

But I’ve learnt being proud of what you’ve built doesn’t mean you have to stop wanting more.

Both things can be true at the same time (we’ve learned a lot about duality too 😉)

So, younger me… We became pretty bad-ass.

I think you’d be proud 💖 #dearyoungerself #selfbelief #entrepreneurjourney by @fameprqueen
