Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we remember the children who were taken from their families, honour residential school survivors, and hold space for the families and communities who continue to carry these losses.

Reconciliation calls on all of us to listen, learn, acknowledge the truth, and take meaningful action. Today and every day, we remain committed to building a future rooted in respect, understanding, healing, and connection.

What happens when a loved one says they'd rather keep drinking than accept help?
In his latest blog post, C. Scott McMillin reflects on a story shared by MMA fighter Dustin Poirier about his father's struggle with alcohol use and the heartbreaking reality many families know all too well.

Addiction can make hope feel impossible, but recovery is possible. Sometimes, helping someone means looking beyond their words and continuing to believe in a path they can no longer see for themselves.

This Week In The News: From the Impact of Addiction Stigma to Recovery in Northern Communities, Growing Calls for Compassionate Intervention, and New Overdose Prevention Technology

This Week In The News: From the Healing Power of Community and Recovery to Grassroots Outreach and the Debate Over Involuntary Addiction Treatment

“We’re out here to help everyone, but we’re looking for individuals that want detox and treatment,” says Jorgensen. “Last month alone we took four people into detox. One of those people is at a sober living house in Kingston. The other is in a treatment center, and, the other two went back to the street. It’s frustrating and it’s rewarding at the same time. We have a person that was 24 years on and off the street, who is now sober, and he’s working. He’s over 16 months in recovery. Those people are the reason we keep going.”

“My experience with drugs didn’t begin when I was an adult. It started when I was still a preteen. At that age, I couldn’t possibly understand where the choices I was making would eventually take me. Drugs became part of my life, and so did the people and places that came with them.”
