Repost from @icalondon

What happens when an artwork moves, breathes, and makes us question how - or if - we are alive?

Join us for a conversation on the singular practice of Brazilian artist Laura Lima, whose work blurs the boundaries between sculpture, performance, installation, and living systems. Featuring Bernardo Mosqueira (@bernardomosqueira), James Tyson, Andrea Nitsche-Krupp (@ank5000), Ilê Sartuzi (@ilesartuzi), Paula Terra-Neale (@terra_arte) and Lima (@lauralima @laura.lima.estudio).

Wed 25 Mar, 6:45pm

Book via @icalondon

Developed with Rio de Janeiro-based Solar (@solardosabacaxis), the event will take place simultaneously in London and Rio.

😍😍😍

I am glad to have joined the queues in the last days to step into the extraordinary world of Lee Miller at Tate Britain 📸

From Vogue model to war correspondent, Lee Miller shattered every boundary placed before her. This exhibition reveals the woman behind the camera—fearless, uncompromising, and utterly ahead of her time.

Swipe through to see her journey: the surrealist experimentation, the unflinching WWII documentation, the intimate portraits that changed how we see conflict and humanity. Each image tells the story of an artist who refused to be defined by a single narrative.
Miller didn't just witness history—she captured it with unflinching honesty, then walked away from fame on her own terms.

A true pioneer whose work still resonates today.

A brilliant and captivating Ana Mendieta exhibition opens at Tate Modern. Many congratulations to the curatorial team, Manuela Buttiglione, Elsa Collinson, Stephanie Hadfield, Francisca Ramírez Corvalán, Valentine Umansky, Kira Wainstein and Michael Wellen, and to @anamendietaartist for keeping her legacy so vividly alive.

Mendieta's work speaks to our present moment with real urgency, yet it remains unmistakably anchored in its own time, a testament to how prescient her practice was, is!.

Worth noting: right now there are three exhibitions by Latin American artists running simultaneously at @tate. That's no coincidence? It deserves to be said out loud.

When the ordinary blinks.
Lisa Jahovic's Soft Interruptions is her second solo exhibition at Flowers Gallery, and it lands with the quiet confidence of an artist who has found her register and knows exactly how far to push it.

Conceptually, Jahovic is less interested in absurdism as comedy or spectacle and more in what might be called functional disorientation. Small malfunctions in the logic of familiar things. The barely-wrong. Works that sit close enough to reality to be unsettling rather than fantastical. Almost imperceptible fractures in the logic of things.

Her central concern is anthropomorphism, not surrealism in the grand theatrical tradition.

Shot on film and hand-printed, her method reinforces the meaning deliberately, restoring friction to a medium defined by speed and reproducibility. The image slows down, and the eye has to follow.

Running beneath all of it is a serious engagement with how photography constructs meaning, and how easily that construction can be destabilised.
She does not document the world. She finds it already slightly misaligned, and holds that misalignment still long enough for us to feel it. The moment when something known stops making complete sense.

What Jahovic understands, and demonstrates, is that photography's most fertile territory is not the decisive moment but the inconclusive one. The moment after. The thing that almost happened. The object that has been used, but not how you would expect.

She is a forensic poet of the almost.

The work is so consistently quiet, so committed to the understated register, that occasionally you want it to lose its composure.

Soft Interruptions closes this weekend at Flowers Gallery, Cork Street. As part of London Gallery Weekend, Jahovic is in conversation with Gem Fletcher on Saturday 6 June at 12pm. Worth catching.

Go. And pay attention to the soap.

Recomendo.

Slide 1 Mastering the Voice, 2023
Single channel sound piece, 8:58 min

Hag Nag Harpy Hen, 2026 Acrylic on canvas, series of 20

This installation, combining a series of new paintings and a sound piece, considers patriarchal and misogynist language that has been used to describe women throughout history and continues to be part of common parlance today.

From witchcraft to waiting rooms. From 17th-century manuscripts to embroidered textiles. Olivia Plender's Little Fennel's Complaint at Modern Art Oxford is a quietly radical excavation of women's bodies, medicine, and the long history of who gets to define what is rational, legitimate, and true.
Watercolours of plants once used to induce abortion. A hanging mobile meditating on humoral medicine. A monumental textile drawn from the Malleus Maleficarum, that infamous 1486 treatise that cast midwives and healers as agents of the devil.
Research-led, multidisciplinary, and deeply felt. This is an exhibition that refuses to separate the historical from the urgently present.
Little Fennel's Complaint is on at Modern Art Oxford. Don't miss it. #OliviaPlender #ModernArtOxford #feminism #womeninthearts #farfewofus taken in Modern Art Oxford by @farfewofus

It is no longer the beauty of the form of the utilitarian object, already destroyed, but the beauty that exists in the materiality of the fragment, in the reduction of matter to the universe of minimal things, in the fluidity of the process, in the emphasis on infinite possibilities, in the freedom of choices, in the interplay of interlocking pieces; ultimately, in the power of human creativity in the face of fragility.
A collector of debris and admirer of the fragile, Renato transforms shards and ruins into precious things, challenging nostalgia and upholding existential and humanist values, while pointing to the poetry of Armando Freitas Filho – everything that is fragile shines without fear of splendor.
What he offers us is the splendorous spectacle of the happening of art. Videos, sound installations, embroidery, drawings and objects compose a space for imagination, delirium or lucidity, and affirm personal and political freedoms as antidotes to dystopia.
The exhibition by #RenatoBezerradeMello opens together with the others at @pacoimperial_rj this week, Tuesday 12/09 from 3pm to 7pm. We are waiting for you to celebrate with us. taken in Paço Imperial - Praça XV - Centro, Rio de Janeiro by @farfewofus
