🌺I bought this #saree with so much excitement last year to celebrate which never happened. When i tried it on, I felt so pretty. I felt me again like million years later. Took me a year to share these snaps. 📱 📸

Some reflective thoughts-
Yet another year… and once again, I couldn’t celebrate this day the way my heart remembers it.

Back home, this wasn’t just a date on the calendar—it was a feeling. The excitement, the chaos, the endless planning, the laughter, the warmth of being surrounded by your own people… everything felt alive.

Now, it’s just me—sitting miles away in a cold, quiet place, holding on to memories that feel heavier with time. The same memories that once brought joy now sting a little deeper.

Funny how life changes. You leave in search of something “better,” but no one tells you how much you’ll have to give up along the way.

Today, more than anything, I just miss home. I miss the feeling of belonging without trying.

Because some days, it really feels like living abroad has taken more from me than it has ever given. 😞

Still hopeful, maybe someday, someday again - I will be home again.

The older I grow, the more life seems to quiet itself into something simpler, something softer. I can’t quite tell if it’s my own heart settling, the state of the world shaping my perspective, or the choices I’ve consciously said yes to—but somewhere along the way, everything became less about noise and more about meaning.

And the most comforting part is, I don’t feel a sense of loss in that change. I don’t feel left behind or out of place. If anything, I feel anchored. Alhamdulillah, there’s a calm contentment within me now—a sense of stability and clarity that I never had before. My focus feels deeper, my priorities clearer, and my heart… lighter.

Even Eid doesn’t feel the same as it once did. It’s not that the joy is gone, but it has changed its form. The excitement of new clothes, lavish spending, and outward celebrations doesn’t call to me the way it used to. I no longer feel the need to indulge in expensive things just for the sake of one day. Instead, I find myself valuing the quiet moments, the prayers, the gratitude, and the presence of loved ones far more.

Maybe this is what growing up truly means—not losing happiness, but redefining it. Not chasing more, but appreciating enough.
