🌻 What an incredible FarmUnity Harvest Festival! 🌱🥕🍅

This is what “Farming by the community, for the community” looks like.

Our volunteers spent the season planting, caring for and harvesting vegetables together and at our Harvest Festival, we came together again to celebrate what we grew. Volunteers prepared wonderful dishes using vegetables from our gardens, and we shared food, stories, laughter and community.

Yesterday was a reminder that FarmUnity grows something else too: friendships, connections and a stronger community. ❤️

A huge thank you to every volunteer, partner, supporter and community member who has helped make this possible and to Crofton Library for being such an important part of the FarmUnity story.
You Grow, We Grow. 🌱

🌱 More Than 200 Pounds in One Week, From Just One Garden! 🥒🍅🌶️🍆

What an incredible week at our FarmUnity garden at Indian Creek School!

Twice this week, our volunteers harvested more than 100 pounds of fresh, chemical-free vegetables in a single harvest, all from this one garden. That’s more than 200 pounds of fresh produce in just one week! 💚

And the best part? These vegetables aren’t being grown for sale. They are being donated to people in need in our community.

This is what FarmUnity is all about:

🌱 Growing food
🤝 Bringing people together
❤️ Sharing the harvest with those who need it

None of this happens without our amazing volunteers and community partners. Every seed planted, every weed pulled, every vegetable harvested, and every hour volunteered turns into fresh food for another family.

A huge thank you to Indian Creek School and to everyone who has helped make this garden flourish.

Farming by the community, for the community. 🌱❤️

Sometimes community grows in the garden. And sometimes it grows around the dinner table. ❤️🌱

We had a very special evening at FarmUnity when Chef Tony from Indigma resturant in Baltimore generously prepared a delicious dinner for our volunteers. All the vegetables were harvested from our farm.

After all the planting, harvesting, watering, and countless hours our volunteers give to the gardens, it was wonderful to simply sit together, enjoy an incredible meal, laugh, talk, and celebrate the people who make FarmUnity possible.

A heartfelt thank you to Chef Tony for sharing his time, talent, and wonderful food with us. The dinner was absolutely delicious, but what made the evening truly special was sharing it together.

And to our volunteers thank you. You are the heart of FarmUnity. 💚

We grow together. We serve together. And sometimes, we get to eat together too. 😊

Our friends at @farm_unity in Crofton, a suburb of Washington, DC, shared a photo of their vibrant gathering space at the Crofton Library community garden.

FarmUnity works with local volunteers and residents to grow vegetables, flowers, and herbs, while creating spaces for people to meet, learn, and take part in community life. SOS helped design an integral bamboo pavilion to support climbing plants and provide a place for visitors to gather and enjoy the harvest.

I am honored to join the discussion of Tiny Gardens Everywhere by Kate Brown at the Ceremony Coffee Book Club on September 12 in Annapolis.

When we started FarmUnity with just a handful of volunteers, we never imagined that a small community garden at the Crofton Library would grow into a movement involving schools, libraries, healing spaces, and hundreds of volunteers working together to grow fresh food for our community.

Kate Brown’s book explores how gardens have long been places of nourishment, resilience, and connection. Those same ideas continue to inspire our work every day at FarmUnity.

I look forward to sharing our story, learning from others, and discussing how small local actions can help cultivate healthier, stronger, and more connected communities.

I hope you’ll join us for great coffee, thoughtful conversation, and an inspiring morning together. 🌱

More strawberries. More smiles. 🍓

Another wonderful day of strawberry pickup at the Crofton Library as families, children, and neighbors came together to share fresh food and community moments.

These small gatherings remind us that community can grow in the simplest ways through fresh harvests, shared spaces, and people showing up for one another.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and helped make today so special. ❤️

More strawberries will be available while supplies last, so come join us and be part of the FarmUnity community. 🌱

Another beautiful evening of community at FarmUnity. 🌱🍓🥦

Today, neighbors and families gathered again at the Crofton Library to pick up fresh strawberries and broccoli grown through the care, partnership, and hard work of our volunteers and community supporters.

There’s something special about watching children carry fresh food home, families gathering outdoors, and people connecting through simple moments like these.

What starts as small seedlings slowly becomes shared harvests, conversations, friendships, and community care.

Thank you to everyone who came out today and continues to support this growing movement. ❤️

Follow FarmUnity for more community harvests, volunteer opportunities, and moments from the garden.
