Returning to the countryside | Immerse, Coexist, Co‑create

Back in the village, the first thing we learn is to engage with local people.

Not as guests, but as insiders. Not as observers, but as doers. Every small moment reshapes our understanding of tact and sincerity.

Immerse, coexist, co‑create — everything we do now is the very breath of this land. by @farmentation.wine

Torch Pear Harvest | Skip the Market, Chase Ripe‑Pear Season

The winery is bustling, busier than a local market, bamboo baskets piled like small hills.
Torch pears: 70% sweet, 30% tangy. Bite into one on a sweltering day; coolness runs from throat to fingertips.

Pears go straight into baskets for brewing post‑harvest — come taste, come buy, come chase this sweetness. by @farmentation.wine

Revival Project | Century‑Old Granary underway

Rammed‑earth walls bear rain and grain‑husk marks, the land’s quiet diary.

No remodelling, no cosmetic touches. Preserve it as it is.

Footsteps return to the empty granary, stirring dust and waking time.

We plant life into old walls, Yunnan‑style, and wait for it to grow. by @farmentation.wine

Picking mushrooms
Before dawn breaks — that’s Yunnan’s rainy‑season rhythm. We wander the mountains, taking our time.

Deep in woods, birdcalls fill the air. Scent of pine resin and damp soil brings back childhood hikes with grandma.

We find striking unknown mushrooms, red and purple. Locals call them miscellaneous fungi.

No matter how pretty they look: never pick mushrooms you don’t know. It’s the mountain’s rule, wisdom of the land. by @farmentation.wine

FARMentation® × IN&OUT|From Granary To Table

Thrilled to set the table at the century‑old granary with IN&OUT, a gentle contrast. Once it sustained bare survival; now it holds life’s true essence.

The granary stays unchanged, rammed‑earth walls bearing marks of time. With tables laid, it’s no mere relic, but a living space for the now. White drapes fall like clouds. Raw ruggedness meets soft elegance, wordlessly communicating.

Yunnan’s lifestyle resides in every meal on the table. Plain yet accessible, vivid and unforgettable. by @farmentation.wine

Farm To Table|Taking friends to Auntie’s for dinner

Auntie says she’s been trapped by mountains for thirty years. “Trapped” is a heavy word. But opening the kitchen door, we feel no despair‑only the hot blast of firewood. A dark hanging pot hangs over the fire pit, glossy with oil, patinated by years.
Cactus salad is the standout dish. Bright emerald shreds in a rough clay bowl. It once grew by fences, all thorns, ignored by everyone. Then my cousin started planting it, spreading from wastelands up hills‑and hope arrived.

Once mountains were walls. Now the cactus has pried open a crack. We cannot do much. We only want to widen this crack, so Auntie can step out to see the world.

The mountains stay unchanged. More people are simply walking out of them. by @farmentation.wine

Wild Mushrooms Down the Hills | Awakening every native Yunnan soul

In rainy Yunnan, mountains are the real fresh market.
Rain wakes wild fungi before sunrise, locals hike uphill with bamboo baskets. Foragers follow ancient rules: no metal tools to protect underground mycelium. Twist mushrooms out softly, cover the spot with native soil for next year’s growth. Locals name it seed conservation, a plain promise between humans and mountains.

Yunnan folks sort wild mushrooms into soup-type and stir-fry-type besides their breeds.
Soup mushrooms shine in simmering broth for pure freshness; stir-fry ones taste best seared hot with chili and garlic.
Coming down the hill, villagers always greet each other: “More soup mushrooms or stir-fry ones today?”
It’s a question for dinner plans, carrying the simplest happiness of mountain residents. by @farmentation.wine

Farm To Table|A Sanxian, a pot of Yunnan.

Torches light the hills, copper pots simmer over charcoal. Wild mushrooms simmer in broth, fragrant steam rising. The pear farmer takes up his Sanxian, and the mountains fall silent. The Yi lyrics are indistinct, yet all pause their chopsticks. Music drifts up with soup steam. A song needs no translation, just as a bonfire needs no words.

Whether from town or countryside, all who gather by the fire share the same rhythm. This is Farm To Table. We tend the land and speak its language. We are FARMers,We are dreamers. by @farmentation.wine
