FAST would like to pay tribute to Vale Marielle Soni and send our heartfelt condolences to her friends and family.

Marielle exemplified what it means to be a collegiate arts professional in generously supporting the FAST program for a number of years in 2016-17 when she was the Director of Alcaston Gallery. Marielle intrinsically understood the value of knowledge sharing with the next generation.

This photo shows Marielle ntroducing VCE Studio Arts students to a painting by Pitjantjatjara atist Yaritji Young during Young's inaugural exhibition in the galleries.

Marielle was an impeccable host and inspiring presenter with young people- always making sure every student felt welcome and included. It was a joy working with her and she will be missed 💚🌳 by @fastfitzroy

One of the most exciting artworks I have experienced in a long time! An incredible response to the waterways located in the Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens and around the Sydney Opera house. The work draws inspiration from the migration of freshwater eels and embodies their movement 👏🏻 Congratulations @amrita_moves on choreographing & performing in this high energy video work and thank you @sharongflynn for introducing this ambitious project to us during our FAST tour today #eels #sydneyoperahouse #sydneyharbour #videoart #installation #contemporarydance #choreography #performanceart #narrative #oceanic #waterways #ecofeminisem #nonhumanworlds #sydneyroyalbotanicgardens by @fastfitzroy

Wrapping up our Term 1 FAST tours at the CCP today! It's been brilliant to share Odette England's exhibition 'Dairy Character' with VCE Art Making and Exhibiting students over the past couple of months. The exhibition explores the artist's experience growing up on a dairy farm in rural South Australia and her reflections on the role of women in rural life. Thanks @dboetkers for hosting the visit today 📷#contemporaryart #contemporaryphotography #exhibitiondesign #curating #dairyfarms #women #artistsbooks #cows #odetteengland taken in Centre for Contemporary Photography by @fastfitzroy

One of the highlights of a long term arts education project like FAST is the impactful relationships that have formed through collaborations with so many extraordinary artists, educators and arts workers along the way. Such a joy spending the day with FAST stalwart and educator extraoridnaire Harriet on a late summer tour today. Brilliant to have students and teachers back in the galleries as FAST walking tours rev up again for 2023. Thank you to new Director Daniel from @ccp_australia, @simluttin and Gallery Manager Jo from @artsprojectaust and @sharongflynn from @gertrudecontemporary for collaborating to make this happen. Your inspirational talks in the galleries were on point and its exciting to road test the new VCE Art Making and Exhibiting curriculum link in context before the new year! taken in Centre for Contemporary Photography by @fastfitzroy

FAST walking tours program can't take place on site right now due to the continued Victorian lockdown.
To enable VCE Studio Arts students to continue to participate online we've answered the call from teachers and prepared a suite of free, curriculum focussed resources exploring contemporary art and exhibition-making at @ccp_australia @dainesinger @artsprojectaust and @gertrudecontemporary with a dedicated team of gallery professionals. To request your copy please email education@ccp.org.au

A personal visit to #seventhgallery to see their new premises in Richmond today. Congratulations team SEVENTH. What a great success story for one of the #cityofyarra's longest running ARIs. Great to see you @diegoismonster and the new spaces. FAST can't walk there any more so we have a fabulous new partner organisation in @artsprojectaust on our tours at #collingwoodyards this year, but I can't recommend a visit to this gallery enough to VCE students.
It has been the launch pad of many a career in the arts over more than two decades @jonbutt.art @brendanmccleary @mich_mountain @earthtoanita @sophiemoshakis just to name a few of the many contributors. This suspended installation is by emerging artust Sol Fernandez and her daughter Blu 💙

Ten days ago we commenced our FAST walking tours for 2021 with visits to a series of fantastic exhibitions including 'To Resound, Unbound' at the CCP.

Here are @callum_mcgrath's glorious pink vitrines displaying his photographic archive of public memorials dedicated to queer subjects.

The extended lockdown#4 in Melbourne continues to impact the FAST program and access to art galleries throughout the city.

The CCP will publish a new online video resource soon. In the meantime sending a shout out to all the VCE students and teachers who are currently learning and teaching from home. We continue to be committed to art education and championing the local contemporary arts industry and hope to see you soon 👏🏻👏🏻 👏🏻

Following todays Victorian Chief Health Officer’s guidance, all FAST walking tour venues will be closed for a week from tomorrow Friday 28 May. We anticipate recommencing FAST walking tours next next Friday 4 June, unless advised otherwise.

We look forward to welcoming everyone who is booked into the program back when it is safe, and wish all VCE students and teachers well during this period of remote learning.
