Having a hysterectomy is MAJOR abdominal surgery. Just because the medical system treats it like a drive thru service does NOT negate the seriousness of what our bodies have gone through. SLOW DOWN. Let yourself have the time and space to HEAL. If you have a hard time sitting still, perhaps it's time to evaluate what you are running from. Learning to sit with yourself is therapeutic. This is NOT an opportunity to see who can heal the fastest and then be rewarded for doing so. I have required weekly self-administered infusions for the last three years. Prior to that, they were every 21 days via a medical port that required nursing care in my home or at an infusion center. Perhaps you know me in the real world and had no idea. Perhaps you are a long-time follower and have questions. Perhaps you are navigating your illness in silence and just need to know that you are not alone. I am here with you. I am proud of you. I am proud of myself. It's been an 17 year fight, somedays I was sure I would not survive, yet here I am the night before a major surgery that would not have even been possible for my body to survive just 8 short years ago. The year has been beautiful and brutal. I am grateful for all of the love and lessons thus far. I know we are all struggling, anxious, unsure, unsettled, and frequently disregulated. Please let me remind you and me that we are doing our very best during the most insanely unpredictable train wreck moment in history. You are NOT alone. I am right here with you. You are loved, and you are doing more than enough. Here are five things I would like you to remember/do.

1. Stay engaged but not so immersed that you are drowning in overwhelming amounts of information.
2. Go introduce yourself to at least four of your immediate neighbors.
3. Stand in the sunlight barefooted with an open heart for just a moment, EVERYDAY. Please.
4. Breathe. Take some slow, deep breaths as often as you can remember.
5. DRINK YOUR FUXKING WATER!!!!!

I am not sure that I will ever have adequate words to describe the way the sun feels on my skin after so many months without it. It is in these small still moments of unadulterated joy for what is the act of basking in the sun, that I am acutely aware of how many humans on this planet no longer have the privilege of doing so and how many times I have come so close to losing it myself. Let this be a gentle reminder to savor the sunshine when she is smiling upon you. Take a moment to recharge. There is so much work do and so much human suffering that it is easy to forget that it is an honor to be alive in so many ways. Most of the precious parts are going to be found in the tiny moments. PS ignore the lashes hanging on by a thread from the weekend and let us take a moment to really get a feel for what unaltered and unfiltered #50 year old skin and faces look like. When you are dehydrated you can feel all fuzzy in the head and kinda sad and super achy! Dehydration fucks with your brain chemistry. I know it’s not a cure all. I receive with ease and I let go with grace. Now is a perfect time to let go of what you know is weighing you down or causing you to feel shitty. There is no new with out releasing the old.
