instagram doesn’t really work great when you’re not selling something or doing a highlight reel. who am i kidding it hasn’t worked well for nearly a decade for the majority of people. we don’t have a better alternative option yet. i look forward to the day when this platform is behind me. for all my friends on here, i keep this thing to see your world and share my world with you. by @fatherofode

Last September I came to Victoria with a film concept and together we made it happen all within a few weeks. It felt like we caught a big creative wave together, then invited a bunch of people to ride the wave with us. We couldn’t have done it without Arri, our Mendocino community and the support of our team. Our film “this way” is about a grown-up commune kid living on the margins of society who forms an unlikely friendship with a six-year-old, forcing both to navigate trust, innocence, and the quiet rules of adulthood. We feel tickled to be premiering it Oct 17th at @thedowntownfestival and to be screening alongside so many other authentic storytellers. Tickets are live over on the @thedowntownfestival website. an old home video. i’d make a little film for each year growing with my little ode. this was age 2. he’s 10 now and as i feel new to this parenting thing every day, i find a lot of peace in the power of true presence. true listening. it’s been the roadmap for the unknown, so many unknowns, i assure you. within that map, we have carved out plenty of time to adventure, get lost, and play as you see here. i personally feel it’s very important to let kids be wild and for us adults to show them how to remain deeply wild. a human soul that has been tamed continues to terrify me. maybe someday i’ll learn to love that version of living too, but for now i will cuddle up with my judgements and watch them as they fearfully dodge the rain. lastly, i was playing catch with my son recently in a small town in northern california. an older man came up to me as we played and said “what i would give to play catch with my dad just one more time.” i cried a couple times that day for the gift of getting to be present with my little man. im really doing my best to savor it all. i know in a flash he’ll be out in the world on his own, with the foundation of our time shared always keeping us both undeniably close. by @fatherofode

our new friend hannah. the newest member to the farm/land. living now in the yurt we once lived in. hannah loves to build and has the car to prove it. currently working on debarking wood beams and adding a loft to the yurt. by @fatherofode
