Vintage Pharmaceutical Advertising

Direct-to-consumer (DTC) advertising for prescription drugs remains legal. The U.S. and New Zealand are the only developed countries that permit it.

The Absolute Sound was founded in 1973 by Harry Pearson, though his first issue was published in 1972. In the early years, TAS was a quarterly, digest-sized magazine that accepted no advertisements. Pearson was inspired by J. Gordon Holt’s Stereophile magazine but wanted to advance the concept further, with multiple writers reviewing high-end audio components from various viewpoints. Pearson published every other month from 1973 through the 1990s, eventually reaching 30,000 subscribers at its peak. He defined “absolute sound” as “the sound of actual acoustic instruments playing in a real space.”

The Absolute Sound’s cover art came from an artist named ROBBII, whose designs were dark, dense, and deliberately unconventional—the antithesis of typical magazine cover aesthetics. Yet they functioned as works of art featuring visual puns and became instant classics. The magazine itself was iconoclastic and wildly irreverent, defying all conventions of magazine publishing. by @faux.tm

OT2 House
designed by Shuhei Endo ®✨

Rooftecture OT2 is a 2012 residential project by Shuhei Endo located in Kita Ward, Osaka, designed for a couple and three children on a small urban site surrounded by buildings. The client requested visual privacy from the busy street while maintaining natural light and ventilation. Endo responded with perforated metal steel facade panels that diffuse views while allowing light infiltration. The design balances exterior metallicity with soft “Harvest Panel” interiors, featuring a central atrium with operable skylight connecting skipped floor levels throughout the 127.7-square-meter residence. by @faux.tm
