What y’all know about that GOOD OL’ SLICKED-BACK BUN, HUNTY?!

Before the braids, wigs, and bundles, baby, I was rocking that HOLY, SANCTIFIED, COGIC BUN! 😂🙌🏽

Not a strand out of place! Edges laid, bun secured, and apparently my SALVATION was too!

But seriously…when I rededicated my life to Christ over 25 years ago, after running from my calling for nearly a decade prior, I felt the pressure to LOOK holy before I fully understood what it meant to LIVE transformed!

The bun was TIGHT, but those religious expectations were TIGHTER! 😩

Modest in theory…performing in practice! WHEW! 🤦🏽‍♀️

But THANK GOD for growth, grace, and some GOOD OL’ LIBERATION!

At my BIG, GROWN, SANCTIFIED AGE, I’ve learned that HOLINESS IS NOT A HAIRSTYLE, and ANOINTING DOESN’T COME IN A BOBBY PIN! 📌😂

So YES, I can rock this slicked-back bun or ponytail simply because I THINK I’M CUTE, HUNTY!

Not because it makes me more saved, more spiritual, more qualified, or more acceptable to the religious fashion police!

The bun was NEVER the problem. The BURDEN of performing holiness WAS! 🎯

And baby, whom the Son sets free is FREE INDEED! (John 8:36)

WHEN LIFE COMES FULL CIRCLE! 🎤

Over 25 years ago, I had the privilege of being the TEACHER… and now, the STUDENT is asking the questions! Talk about a FULL-CIRCLE MOMENT! 🙌🏽

What an honor and blessing to receive an invitation from my former student, Anthony, to be a featured guest on his show, “Cultivating Konversations” on The Mind Of A Man Network!

There’s something incredibly special about witnessing the growth, evolution, and success of someone you once had the privilege of pouring into. And now, years later, to be invited into a space HE has cultivated to pour into others? PRICELESS!

A LITTLE NOSTALGIA, A LOT OF “CHILDHOODS!”

One thing about me and my son…we LOVE a good throwback! Vintage, classics, old-school treasures, and what my son affectionately calls “CHILDHOODS!” 😂

So, taking a little break from work, school, responsibilities, and the everyday hustle to explore Vintage Stock was JUST the mini getaway I didn’t know I needed!

BABYYYYY! Talk about a trip down memory lane! 🤣 From wall-to-wall classics, vintage video games, vinyl records, movies, memorabilia, merch, and EVERYTHING in between…I was LOST in nostalgia! 😍

And the overstimulation?! REAL! 😂🤣 There was SO MUCH to see, so much to take in, and absolutely NO WAY to experience it all in one visit! Needless to say, my son and I already decided this adventure requires multiple trips!

Sometimes, the best little getaways aren’t about traveling far. They’re about slowing down, revisiting the things that made you smile, and making NEW memories while celebrating the OLD ones. ❤️
