The inaugural Daniel Memorial Poetry Slam has crowned its first champion, Nick from Baltimore Maryland, following two engaging workshops that attracted 100 participants. A total of 34 courageous new voices took to the stage, sharing both original poems and pieces crafted on the spot. These workshops were expertly led by award-winning Poet/MC Mike Guinn, fostering a safe and encouraging atmosphere where young poets were welcomed with warmth as they embraced their creative journeys. A heartfelt acknowledgment goes out to all the states represented at the conference, who sought resources and tools to empower youth and amplify their voices. This workshop provided a unique opportunity for self-expression, allowing participants to share their truths in a manner they had never experienced before. The authenticity displayed was inspiring for both adults and youth alike, creating an immediate sense of community where everyone supported one another. Congratulations to Nick for being the first recipient of the Daniel Memorial Poetry Slam trophy courtesy of Mike Guinn. I am truly grateful for the chance to collaborate with the remarkable team at Daniel Memorial Independent Living Comforts, who organized an outstanding event for youth globally. We often think our will is stronger, but the true test of the anointing is surrendering to God’s plan. Just like Jonah, we can get caught up trying to dictate where our gifts should go instead of walking into our true assignment.

Are you refusing to forgive? Are you avoiding a hard conversation or a place you’re called to be?

Today, lay down your pride and ask yourself: What is my Nineveh? It’s time to stop running and start walking in obedience. 🙌🏾✨
