My story is in ESSENCE. 🤍
Written so beautifully by someone I’ve admired for years, @emanidil

This isn’t a story about defeat. It’s a story about what happens when you refuse to let the hardest chapters define you.

Every layoff pushed me back into a room with myself. Every setback forced me to choose: shrink or rise. And over time I realized that what felt like rejection was actually direction. The same moments that broke me open also gave birth to the most purposeful work of my life.

Because on the other side of the grief, I built.
I built a company. I built community. I built a voice.
And I rebuilt the version of myself I thought I had lost.

I truly believe that every door that closed was an invitation to step into something deeper — not just a job, but a calling. And now, to see that story land in @essence, a publication I have loved and learned from since I was a girl, feels like a full-circle blessing.

I’m sharing this because somebody else is in their setback season right now. Somebody else is packing up a desk, refreshing a job board, or questioning their worth. And I want you to know… it is not over. It is not wasted. You are not being pushed out. You are being redirected.

Purpose has a perfect memory.
Nothing meant for you can ever pass you by.

Thank you @emanidil for holding my story with so much care. Thank you to every woman who has ever felt unseen, undervalued, or underestimated. I hope this reminds you that you can rise again — and that sometimes, being let go is how you finally find yourself.

More soon. But for now, I’m just breathing this in. 🤍

It was my honor and pleasure to speak at @michiganross’s African Business Club this year.

I spoke on the panel: Navigating Dual Worlds: Identity, Impact, Influence

I amplified that identity IS your superpower in the room. Also owning your IP is how we advance and own our narratives. For too long, our stories and our cultural genius have been building everybody else’s empires. The shift happens when we stop renting our brilliance and start building equity in it.

Forever grateful to be in conversation with these brilliant minds:

🎤 Manduwi Nthanda, Malawian storyteller & entrepreneur
🎤 @thedanjuma, Founder & StoryMaster at Denda Works
🎤 Adedayo Adesanya, Founder of Virtual Nigeria + Microsoft Product Team

Huge thank you to our moderator Oghoghosa Igbineweka for holding space so beautifully and @iamasley_ for building out such an impactful conference 🤎

To everyone who pulled me aside after to share your own story, those hallway moments were everything. Still metabolizing it all. by @fayzology

So I booked @hone.health . They came to my door: 50+ biomarkers, no waiting room, just me in my robe before the kids woke up.

My results: high cholesterol and a thyroid that’s been up and down for years.

What every mom should ask for 👇

🩸 Thyroid: TSH is just the first screen. Ask for Free T4 + TPO antibodies too.
🩸 After babies: ferritin, lipid panel, and A1C if you had gestational diabetes.
🩸 Timing: ask what time of day and what cycle day to test.

I’ve spent years telling moms to put themselves first. This time, I listened.

Your turn. Hone is linked in my bio 🤍

💬 Which one did you not know?
📌 Save this for your next appointment
📲 Send it to the mama who always goes last

Can we just have a moment for all of these incredible fits? 😮‍💨

Not only were we graced by such beautiful people in one room, but we were graced with the success of much dedication, effort and passion that came together last week in New York.

Held during UN General Assembly High-Level Week & Climate Week, Sauti Ya Mama brought together an afternoon of stories, music, art, conversation and connection, bringing perspectives from Zanzibar into a global room and centering women’s health and the future of care.

The afternoon marked the unveiling of @zanzibarmagazine ‘s Volume 2, Her Blue Economy; the launch of #MwanzoWake in collaboration with Her Excellency the First Lady of Zanzibar, Ms. Mariam Mwinyi and @maishaborafdn; and the premiere of ‘Rahma’ by @light_palmer.

We were honored to hear from our speakers Dr Ellen Mkondya-Senkoro from the @maishaborafdn, and @rosemary_kokuhilwa from @zanzibarmagazine - special shoutout to @dr_adanna for her presence - and our panelists João Abreu from @impulsogov, @e.a.wang from @elevateprize, Khadija Shariff of @milelezfn, Hon. @dr.zeyanahamid and @israspeaks of @everypregnancy.

The conversation was moderated by the lovely @fayzology, and with opening and closing remarks from WAJAMAMA Founder & CEO @nafisa.jiddawi.

Complimented with beautiful live music from @kokugonza, wonderful food, thoughtful conversation and new connections, it was a very special afternoon from beginning to end.

We’re deeply grateful to @bryantparkgrill for opening its beautiful space to us, and proud to have brought Sauti Ya Mama to life in collaboration with @everypregnancy, @maishaborafdn, The Beginnings Fund and @nuumacare.

And to our sponsors @baweisland, @bryantparkgrill, @segalfoundation, @escapadezanzibar and @robinbatistazanzibar - thank you for helping make the occasion everything it could be.

One remarkable room & one very special moment in 2026!

More from Sauti Ya Mama still to come. 🤍 by @fayzology

Last week at UNGA reminded me that you can have the vision, but community is what helps carry it further than you could ever take it alone.

A year ago, @nafisa.jiddawi and I met during UNGA week. We didn’t know then that one conversation would turn into friendship, collaboration, and a year later, something much bigger: creating together during UNGA, with the First Lady of Zanzibar, Her Excellency Mama Mariam Mwinyi, standing behind the work.

That is the part I keep coming back to.

So much of what I’m building today exists because of the people I’ve met along the way. People who made an introduction. Shared an idea. Opened a door. Said yes. Challenged me to think bigger. Or simply saw the vision before there was much to see.

Last week, I had the honor of representing as an @everypregnancy Ambassador, bringing @nuumacare to UNGA for the first time, reconnecting with old friends and making new ones.

And somewhere between all of those moments, I realized: community doesn’t just support the mission. It expands what you believe is possible for it.

I’m deeply grateful for every person who has poured into me, trusted me, collaborated with me, and made room for this work.

If there’s one thing I’m carrying forward, it’s this: build the community as intentionally as you build the dream. The right people will elevate you, sharpen the mission, and help take it places you couldn’t have reached alone.

So much gratitude for the road here.

And so much excitement for where we’re going next. 🤎 taken in New York, New York by @fayzology

Still taking in what happened in this room. 🤎

During UNGA week in New York City, we brought a piece of Zanzibar to New York for Sauti ya Mama: The Mother’s Voice.

I had the honor of MCing the afternoon and moderating a powerful conversation, guiding a room of funders, advocates, global health leaders, community builders and storytellers.

And two beautiful things launched in that room.

✨ Zanzibar Magazine, Volume 2!

✨ #MwanzoWake, a campaign focused on the first 1,000 days of life, co-developed by @wajamama_zanzibar and the Zanzibar Maisha Bora Foundation, and championed by Her Excellency Mama Mariam Mwinyi, First Lady of Zanzibar!

Our incredible panel, Hon. Dr. Zeyana Hamid, Isra Chaker, João Abreu, Esther Wang and Khadija Shariff, reminded us of something simple:

Mothers already have a voice. Our responsibility is to listen, amplify and make sure what we hear moves us to act.

To @wajamama_zanzibar, thank you for trusting @nuumacare to help creatively shape this experience. 🤎

And to @zanzibarmagazine, Zanzibar Maisha Bora Foundation, @everypregnancy, The Beginnings Fund and Segal Family Foundation, thank you for bringing this vision to life.

Thank you to our speakers, panelists, every person who joined us, and @bryantparkgrill for giving these stories such a beautiful home.

Sauti ya Mama. The Mother’s Voice.

From Zanzibar to New York, may her voice travel even further. 🇹🇿🤎

We’re honoured to introduce the speakers, panelists and moderator who will help shape the conversation tomorrow at Sauti Ya Mama 🙌🏽

We’re deeply grateful for the response to this gathering - the luncheon is at full capacity - and for every person choosing to spend the afternoon with us!

We’re looking forward to an immersive and connecting experience: stories, live music, an exhibition, discussion, and a room full of people bringing different perspectives to women’s health and the future of care in Zanzibar. What better way to spend a Tuesday in New York?!

We cannot wait to welcome everyone tomorrow and to share more from the day with our audience! (This is your PSA to stay very tuned 😎) See you there! 🔜

While on Martha’s Vineyard, I joined an intimate dinner by @jpmorgan that brought 20 founders and funders around one table. We talked candidly about what we are building, what it takes to scale and what founders actually need from the people and institutions positioned to invest.

As a founder, I know that being invited into the room matters. But what matters even more is what happens once we are there.

☑️ Are our ideas taken seriously?
☑️ Are we seen as leaders building valuable companies?
☑️ Does the conversation lead to real access, partnership and capital?

I left the dinner thinking deeply about the responsibility we all have to build stronger pathways between bold ideas and the resources required to bring them fully to life.

Thank you Christian Williams, Shawn Harris and the J.P. Morgan Commercial Banking team for bringing us together with such intention.

It was a privilege to be at the table. taken in Vineyard Haven Marina by @fayzology

WORTH was an idea I carried for a long time before it became a room full of people.

To see it come to life on Martha’s Vineyard, surrounded by leaders who believe Black maternal health deserves more investment, more infrastructure and more urgency, meant more to me than I can fully put into words.

I am deeply grateful to every partner and sponsor who helped make the inaugural WORTH possible.

To the McKinsey Institute for Economic Mobility, thank you for believing in the vision, helping shape the conversation and bringing your leadership and economic perspective into this work.

To @drinksensori, @progynyinc, @needed, @joinloula, @goodtroublebourbon Trouble, @century_foundation and @jonesandrose thank you for choosing to invest your resources, platforms and leadership into a gathering centered on Black mothers.

To @birthcenterequitybce, thank you for continuing to show us what it looks like to invest directly in community-based maternal health infrastructure.

To my dear friends Kanika Harris and Stephanie Ettienne behind @listentomedoc, thank you for ensuring that lived experience remained at the center of every conversation about systems, economics and change.

And to @forbluewatergirls and @sourcedshea, thank you for extending care to our speakers and guests through your products.

Thank you @tsb.events for designing a beautiful event and going above and beyond to make it happen. It’s not easy organizing on the Vineyard and you did it with grace.

Photos by the wonderful @stayreddy 🌹

There were so many people behind the scenes who gave their time, ideas, introductions, resources and encouragement to help me build this. I do not take any of it lightly.

As a founder, one of the greatest privileges is finding people who see the possibility in something before it fully exists.

Thank you for seeing WORTH.

Thank you for helping me build it.

And thank you for believing that Black maternal health is WORTH investing in.

This was only the beginning. 🤎 taken in Martha's Vineyard by @fayzology

Black maternal health conversations must reflect the full reproductive health journey — including the barriers that shape access to fertility and family building care.

Last week, Progyny was proud to have Dr. Choi speak at WORTH: A Soirée on Black Maternal Health & Capital on Martha’s Vineyard, powered by McKinsey and Co, joining leaders across healthcare, advocacy, community, and investment committed to advancing Black maternal health.

As Dr. Choi emphasized, improving outcomes requires looking at the entire reproductive journey and working together to turn awareness and advocacy into meaningful action.

We’re grateful to Dr. Choi for representing Progyny and helping ensure fertility and family building remain part of this critical conversation. taken in Martha's Vineyard by @fayzology

Black Maternal Health is WEALTH! ❤️

Yesterday on Martha’s Vineyard, Birth Center Equity was honored to sponsor WORTH: a select gathering of leaders across capital, healthcare, and policy exploring the value and possibility of investing in Black mothers.

We highlighted the importance of our bold and audacious Beloved Birth 50 by 50 goal: by 2050, 50% of babies in the United States will be born with the care of midwives.

Presented by @nuumacare and @fayzology and powered by @mckinseyco, WORTH brought together the insight, influence, and capital needed to move Black maternal health from conversation to meaningful action - including clips from the award-winning documentary @listentomedoc.

This work requires more than conversation. It requires intentional investment, bold ideas, and collective action to build a maternal health system where Black mothers and birthing people can truly thrive.

And the stakes are high, and the opportunity is enormous: the latest McKinsey report found that investing in Black maternal health could boost the U.S. economy by $25 billion.

We’re grateful to be part of this important work alongside @nuumacare, @mckinseyco, @progynyinc, @birthcenterequitybce, @joinloula, @drinksensori, @goodtroublebourbon, @needed, @the_naabb, and @rootedinwomenswellnessinc.

Black maternal health is wealth. Investing in Black mothers is investing in all of us. ❤️
