I create Apple content for everyday people — I always have, and I also consistently function as tech support for my community with people sending me DMs and I get asked why I do it.

I’m not a huge creator. I’m not paid to do it, I’m not an Apple employee — but I also think making tech unintimidating for everybody is important. If my six-year-old son and my 72-year-old mother know how to Airdrop photos they’ve doodled on on their iPads, I think everybody who holds an Apple product should be able to discover and use all the intuitive features that help make our lives that much easier.

The interaction I’ve had with Tim, and with his much, much bigger Apple team makes me realise, more than ever how important walking the talk is, and how crucial you align yourself with brands who mirror your values; perhaps it won’t be everything because at the end of the day, they ARE businesses.

But to me, people matter, and people matter to Tim, and Apple too. #hidupmatiapple by @fazgaffa

I like my men the way I like my home accessories: smart, responsive, and comfortable taking control. Apple clearly got the memo. ✨

With the new HomeView, Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini and a whole lineup of smart home accessories, Apple is making a rather aggressive play for domestic dominance. And frankly, I love a man (or an ecosystem) with initiative.

Is the iPhone 18 Pro Max worth it if you’re not a photographer? Because every review is about variable aperture and film grain, and my camera roll is mostly screenshots of where I parked at Jewel.

Every year, people ask me the same question: which iPhone should I buy? And I increasingly think that’s the wrong question; tell me how you use your phone first.

Because the person whose iPhone needs to survive school drop-off, work, 400 WhatsApps and a Grab home does not necessarily need the same phone as the person shooting paid content. The person buying for Mum does not need the same phone as the early adopter already mentally spending S$3,099 on iPhone Duo.

And sometimes, despite how gorgeous Burgundy is, the correct answer is to keep the iPhone you already own.

So I went through the current Singapore lineup — iPhone 17e, iPhone 16, iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, and iPhone Duo — and matched them to the people I think they actually make sense for.

The best tech features, I reckon, are very rarely the ones with the sexiest names. They’re the tiny things that remove one irritating step from something you already do 47 times a week.

Fashion has been drowning in oxblood. Beauty gave us cherry-cola lips, nails and hair. Dark red stopped feeling old-school and somehow became the colour equivalent of having excellent taste and knowing exactly what you’re doing.

And now Apple’s put it on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.

Which is kind of Apple’s thing: not chasing culture, but knowing exactly when a mood has gone from niche to inevitable.

The problem with giving your kid AirPods is that they are, unfortunately, a kid. Which means volume up, one AirPod missing, music on for four hours and absolutely no idea where the case is.

So yes, while I like AirPods 5 because they sound great, I like them more because they come with the things I actually care about as a parent: noise cancellation, Transparency mode, Conversation Awareness, Find My and the ability to put some limits around loud audio.

Basically, he’s listening to someone else read him The Prisoner of Azkaban, without sacrificing his hearing or my sanity. ✨
