Symphony No. 7, mvt. II - Beethoven (Corno II) It’s kinda weird how my musicianship is directly tied to my state of being, at least in this very moment. As I am actively trying to improve myself as a person, I am improving myself as a musician, both technically and artistically. I still have a long way to go cause I have my whole life ahead of me but it’s nice that when I feel good, I play good (mostly haha). Being present and in the moment is something that I’m trying to incorporate into my life instead of trying to skip the cutscenes. Part of being present is sitting through the not so fun parts instead of trying to avoid them at all costs and failing. It’s already WAYYY too loud inside my head, we literally CANNOT make any more room for anything unnecessary. Anyways I thought I sounded pretty good in this clip, air is moving etc etc. I could def phrase through the middle more and be shorter on the descending line 😋 I literally can’t pick a favorite movement y’all this symphony and part is so much fun by @fcs__music

From June 28th-July 10th, a handful of our students participated in the @atlantic_brass_quintet seminar! Check out this short clip of the opening of Eugene Bozza’s Sonatine performed by David, Faith, and Isaac! Bozza was a funny guy, do you know what symphony he is quoting? #brass #concert #music #lowbrass #band taken in The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at St. Bonaventure University by @fcs__music

6.3.26 - Funhouse Mirrors Rehearsal \o/ (HEADPHONES RECOMMENDED) Just a lil snippet of what we’re working on for our next album. Playing horn in a band setting has been so interesting and essential for my musicianship, even though I haven’t done much yet lol. Shoutout Funhouse Mirrors plz listen to our music bc it’s awesome :) by @fcs__music

California - Joni Mitchell (intro) Proving to the internet once again that I play guitar a little bit. I was just looking for some easy songs to play along to, and I picked this classic. Pardon my fit + crooked septum .__. by @fcs__music

Ramble On - Led Zeppelin (ending section) I am taking any suggestions on how to be less stiff during all the sixteenth notes. Anyways it’s been a while but I will be playing all the time this summer, so I might as well record some of it. I randomly revisited this song, which is an essential, hoping to have a bit more ease since the last time I played it, and (i think) I succeeded. by @fcs__music

Day 1 of shedding scale patterns until I feel the fluidity. One of the things I really like about playing my six-string is the low action. I feel way less tension when I play and I can feel the strength of my attacks better. This exercise is a lot more fun than it should be, and it requires decent concentration too. This take is not perfect, but I’m posting it for progress, not perfection. by @fcs__music

Initial Speed - Phil Manzanera (middle section) Watch that bass face! Happy New Year fcs__music nation, here’s the first take of something that I’ve been working on for a while. I felt like I was really concentrated and focused throughout this entire take, and I want to get into that space more when I play or write anything. Seriously tho that bass face is egregious I love it so much by @fcs__music

When You Wish Upon a Star (melody) I’m experimenting with playing melodies I enjoy on horn during my practice sessions, since I’ve found that I need to sing through my horn a lot more. I randomly remembered this melody and recorded without a reference. I still have a lot more to work on cause I can hear myself think listening back to this, but awareness is the first step. Happy jury season to one and all, and I’m pretty excited to do mine tomorrow morning :) by @fcs__music

Starting off the day with this pattern of scales and thirds. The end of the semester is hitting me like a ton of bricks and concert season hasn’t even started lol. On the bright side, I’m really seeing and liking my progress as a horn player and musician in general. Watching this made me reinforce the idea that the mid register needs just as much air as the low and the high to get those smooth slurs. Happy almost jury season to all those who celebrate (😵‍💫) by @fcs__music

Politicians In My Eyes - Death (bass cover) A quick little poorly framed bass cover to remind myself (and all of you) that this account exists and I can use it lol I discovered this song earlier today and it inspired me to learn the bass part. It brings me back to when I was first discovering the capabilities of the bass guitar (and myself). This is my third read through and I surprised myself. By working on it at a slower tempo, I managed to get it up to speed very quickly. Apologies for the uncut nails; first one to guess the nail making the most noise in this video gets a cookie. :P by @fcs__music
