Tell Lisa | Monday Storytime ☔️

What are the odds that the woman describing her perfect marriage to me would be married to the same man my young coworker was secretly seeing?

On this rainy Monday in L.A., I’m welcoming the cooler weather and sharing a story that has stayed with me for years.

Years ago, a young coworker began an affair with a married man who also happened to be her anatomy teacher. I was disappointed, but she insisted he was miserable in his marriage. According to him, his wife had pressured him to move to L.A. and was an absolute monster.

During this time I opened my spa in Santa Monica, I became close with a lovely regular client who spoke warmly about her husband.

One day, she excitedly told me they were heading to their cabin for a romantic weekend, groceries packed and the city behind them.

I thought, How romantic!

As we chatted, she mentioned her husband’s profession and their move to Los Angeles.

The details began to line up.

Wait a minute… could this be the same man?

Sure enough, her husband was the very man my coworker had been having an affair with.

I was stunned. I was hearing two completely different versions of the same marriage: one woman describing a loving relationship, the other convinced he was trapped in a miserable one.

That experience taught me something I’ve never forgotten:

There are always three sides to every story: yours, theirs, and the truth.

My takeaway wasn’t to become cynical about love, but to stay awake in my own life. Don’t get so comfortable that you start living on autopilot. Keep your eyes open, communicate, and make sure you and your partner are still sharing the same dreams.

There’s nothing wrong with rose-colored glasses. Just remember to take them off once in a while.

Because the best relationships aren’t just about dreaming together, but truly knowing each other. ❤️

✨ LASH LINE ENHANCEMENT — DOES IT HURT?

My #1 question! Surprisingly, most clients say it tickles, like a little feather duster brushing their lashes! I’m known for my light hand, making the experience especially gentle.

Here’s how your 75-minute appointment unfolds:

You begin by relaxing on my gemstone-lined healing table with soothing music. Your eyes are cleansed, followed by 15 minutes of numbing with 5% lidocaine.

Using an ultra-fine single needle, similar in size to an acupuncture needle, I gently dust pigment along the lash line with a pendulum-like motion. I alternate between eyes, building color in three delicate passes, cleansing between each application.

Choose your color:
🤎 Soft Brown | Medium Brown | Auburn Brown | Dark Brown | 🖤 Black

The result? Naturally defined eyes, fuller-looking lashes, and a subtle, beautiful eye-opening effect that typically lasts 1–2 years.

🌕 Did anyone see the moon last night?

It already looked incredible, and tonight is the Harvest Moon. ✨

I’ve always felt something different around a full moon. A little more energy, a little more magic… and maybe people get a little more cuckoo too. 😂 Whatever it is, I’m choosing to take that energy and put it somewhere positive.

Yesterday was one of those days at Feather where I did a little bit of everything—which is actually one of the things I love most about what I do.

Microblading on a new client, a Korean lash lift on one of my sweet girls I’ve known since she was 15—who is somehow about to turn 18!—a brow lamination, and a couple of much-needed brow overhauls.

By the end of the day, I felt like I’d run a marathon. 😂 I remember thinking, I would really love a sip of water… and maybe a chance to go to the bathroom.

But that’s a day at Feather. Different faces, different conversations, different transformations.

So that’s where I’m putting my Harvest Moon energy today: gratitude for what I get to do and excitement for what’s ahead. 🌕✨

With Korean lash lifts and brow laminations being two of my most popular services lately, I want to remind you that what you do after your appointment matters.

I created Feather Care Lash + Brow Conditioner specifically for this. It conditions the hair with ingredients like panthenol to help keep lashes and brows soft, flexible and healthy-looking after a lift or lamination.

And here’s where aftercare really makes a difference: the grow-out.

As your natural straight lashes or new brow hairs start growing in alongside the lifted or laminated hairs, dryness can make that transition look much more noticeable and unruly.

Tales from Feather — Chapter One 🪶

One of the unexpected things I love most about what I do is getting to know the stories behind the people who sit in my chair.

I’ll never forget asking a new client, “When was the last time you had your eyebrows done?”

Her answer: “Probably when my affair started.”

Well… that got my attention. 😂

At the time, it was only one little chapter of her story. Four years later, she’s still a client, and somewhere along the way I’ve heard quite a few more chapters — plus the synopsis of everything that came before.

That’s what happens here. I get to watch your children grow up, hear about new relationships and breakups, career changes, family drama, fresh starts, big wins, and the occasional plot twist I definitely did not see coming.

I love it. I love people, and I love their stories. I’m diplomatic with my advice, but I’m also not particularly good at pretending I don’t have an opinion. 😂

And yes, Feather has boundaries. I’ve even fired clients before. I don’t care how much someone spends — if the energy isn’t right, it isn’t worth sacrificing the beautiful little space I’ve created.

So I think it’s time to start sharing a few of the funny, touching, and memorable encounters I’ve collected over the years — anonymously, of course.
