🎧 We’re launching a special podcast series with @fedoraplatform, bringing poetry and the performing arts into conversation. For each episode, a poet from the Versopolis network responds to a FEDORA Prize-winning work — experiencing the performance, its creative process and the atmosphere of the premiere, then transforming those impressions into a poem.

First up: Ruth Lasters and Gemma Coutts

After seeing Gentlemen’s Jack, the FEDORA – VAN CLEEF & ARPELS Dance Prize 2025-winning ballet, Belgian Poet Laureate Ruth Lasters turned her impressions into A Hat of Glass — a poem inspired by Anne Lister, Gemma Coutts’s performance, and one rather curious hat.

In Versopolis Podcast #42, Ruth and Gemma talk about Gentlemen’s Jack, identity, desire, love, and how a performance can linger long after the curtain falls.

🎧 Listen to A Hat of Glass wherever you get your podcasts.

🌍 Poetry meets opera and dance across Europe

Earlier this year, we announced our collaboration with @versopolis, a European poetry platform, creating new encounters between poetry, opera and dance around FEDORA Prize-winning productions.

✨ Since then, two poets have attended FEDORA Prize-winning performances, experiencing the works first-hand and gathering inspiration.

🎭 Their experiences are now taking shape through original poetic responses, capturing impressions, emotions and reflections inspired by what they encountered on and beyond the stage.

🖋️ The first poem of the series is coming soon.

Through this collaboration, we are exploring how poetry can extend the life of a performance beyond its fleeting moment on stage, creating new spaces for artistic dialogue, reflection and exchange across Europe.

👀 Stay tuned as we unveil the first poem and discover where these encounters between poetry, opera and dance can lead.

WHAT IF WE BUILT THE STAGE DIFFERENTLY? 🌱

Theatre, opera and dance across Europe are coming together to tackle one of the biggest challenges facing the performing arts: how do we make the way we work truly sustainable?

Starting on 22 September, the networks European Theatre Convention, FEDORA and Opera Europa are teaming up with the Theatre Green Book for a new five-part Sustainability Workshop Webinar Series — bringing together professionals from across Europe to share practical solutions, challenges and ideas.

The first session focuses on Modular Stage Construction: how reusable and adaptable scenic elements can reduce material waste and extend the life of what we build.

It marks a significant step in bringing our sectors together around a shared approach to sustainability — learning from one another and turning ambition into practical change.

📅 22 September 2026
⏰ 11:00–12:30 CEST

We are proud to celebrate "YUM!", winner of the FEDORA Digital Prize 2025, supported by @kearneyofficial and in collaboration with the @imzmedia.

🤖 Created & directed by Wen Liu, and led by @studiomars2020, "YUM!" is a dazzling and technologically advanced music-theatre experience that combines opera, performance art, and extended reality into a fully immersive spectacle. 🎭 In a rapidly evolving performing arts landscape, how can we better support cultural leaders and professionals in navigating complexity, uncertainty and new challenges?

✨ We had the pleasure of speaking with Catherine Tanneau, CEO of Variations International & Activision Coaching Institute, and Leon Wever, Co-Founder of @coachello.io, about FEDORA’s new pilot programme on human and AI coaching, developed to support theatre and opera leaders on a pro-bono basis.

🎯 In this interview, they explore how coaching can help them in navigating strategic challenges, from developing artistic projects and managing teams to securing funding and engaging audiences.

🤖 Through this pilot, Variations International brings its expertise in executive and leadership coaching through its coaching brand Activision Coaching Institute, providing experienced and supervised coaches who understand the realities of cultural organisations. Coachello complements this human approach with AI-powered tools that facilitate coach matching, preparation, and support throughout the coaching journey.

🤝 This programme reflects our commitment to supporting artists and cultural leaders beyond the stage, fostering more resilient and forward-looking performing arts organisations.

💬 “Artists and cultural leaders are under a lot of stress. There’s a continuous need for performance and creativity in an environment that is quickly evolving and becoming more difficult.” - Leon Wever

💬 “Leaders need a sparring partner to help them navigate uncertainty, funding challenges, the development of artistic projects and finding new ways to attract audiences to theatres and operas.” - Catherine Tanneau

🎥 Coaching sessions are now open until October. If you are interested, click on the link in bio to discover the full interview and to register!

📰 We're thrilled to see Gentleman Jack, FEDORA – VAN CLEEF & ARPELS Dance Prize 2025 Winner, featured in Le Figaro, celebrated as one of contemporary ballet's rising stars in Europe and a beautiful example of what happens when artists, institutions and partners come together to bring a bold story to life.

🔗 Read the article 👉https://loom.ly/ksPZUxs

✨ Seeing a project we believe in reach this level of recognition is exactly why we do this work, discovering ambitious performing arts projects and giving them the platform, network and support to flourish.

🤝 It's a reminder of what FEDORA stands for: connecting bold ideas with the partners and resources they need to travel across Europe and beyond.

🩰 At its heart, Gentleman Jack brings to the stage the life of Anne Lister, a 19th-century Yorkshire landowner who lived openly with women, defied the conventions of her time, and left behind coded diaries that later inspired books and a hit TV series.

🎭 Led by @northernballet, in co-production with @oopperabaletti and choreographed by @annabellelopezochoa, this contemporary ballet turns her extraordinary story into powerful, modern choreography.

🏆 The FEDORA – VAN CLEEF & ARPELS Dance Prize is supported by @vancleefarpels as part of the FEDORA Prizes Competition co-funded by the @creative.eu programme of the European Commission.

🎭 In a complex cultural ecosystem, how can strategic communication help make emerging artistic creations visible and meaningful to different audiences across Europe?

✨ We had the pleasure of speaking with Patrick Bonin, General Manager of Kingcom Group @groupe_kingcom, FEDORA’s newest pro bono partner, about the importance of building connections between artists, institutions, audiences and supporters across Europe.

🎯 In this interview, he shares how strategic communication can help cultural projects reach new audiences, strengthen visibility and create meaningful engagement throughout every stage of artistic creation.

🤝 The conversation also highlights the growing importance of philanthropy and public-private collaboration in ensuring that innovative cultural projects can continue to emerge and flourish in an evolving world.

💬 "We need to find new ways of financing culture, and the funding from both the private and public sector, especially in the cultural area, is essential. This support today will help ensure the continuity of new artistic creations tomorrow.”
