The Ecology of Movement brings photography, environmental responsibility and cultural production into conversation through an exhibition and public programme presented by FUTURES during Paris Photo Week 2026.

Curated by @julia_rajacic the exhibition explores how ecological limits can become a catalyst for experimentation, shaping the ways photography is made and experienced.

Meet the five artists exploring how ecological conditions can shape photographic practice, from the materials and processes used to make images to our relationships with the living world.

What can art contribute to conversations about climate change, and what role can cultural networks play? FUTURES and @fedoraplatform bring photography, opera and dance into the discussion.

Photographer @ziedbromdhane considers how documentary photography can reveal the effects of environmental change on lives, relationships and identities, beyond what can be captured through measurable data.

Join us for the opening gathering and the launch of the FUTURES Special Edition of Fotograf magazine, in collaboration with @fotograf.zone

How are algorithmic visual cultures and attention economies changing the ways photography is curated and encountered? Nadine Isabelle Henrich, Senior Curator at Haus der Photographie, @deichtorhallenhamburg; Marco de Mutiis, Digital Curator at @foto_museum; Mona Schubert (@silver_iodide), Curator at @foto_arsenal_wien; and artist and researcher @sheungyiuphoto come together to consider these questions.

Hosted by photographer @giyamakondowills, this @fotodok.nl discussion explores the creative decisions, collaborations and ideas that shape photobooks, offering a closer look at the stories behind the finished publications.

Presented by @ci.cloplataforma, this programme brings together Virgílio Ferreira, Joana Dionísio, Gonçalo C. Silva, Catarina Braga and Carlos Trancoso to discuss artistic approaches to ecological and social challenges, and how photography can foster more regenerative relationships with the territories we inhabit.

Curator @julia_rajacic joins the five exhibiting artists to discuss working within ecological limits, the choices and compromises involved, and ho

After attending the premiere of Gentleman Jack in London, Ruth Lasters began writing. What emerged was “Hat” — a poem shaped by movement, memory, Anne Lister and everything that remained after the curtain fell. 🎭

Listen to Ruth read the poem in the video below — and head to versopolis.com to watch the full video, where she talks about the strange, beautiful process of translating dance into words: what she saw, what she felt, and how a top hat slowly turned into a sieve, then into glass. ✒️🌟

Created as part of the first transmobility exchange between Versopolis and FEDORA.

WHAT IF WE BUILT THE STAGE DIFFERENTLY? 🌱

Theatre, opera and dance across Europe are coming together to tackle one of the biggest challenges facing the performing arts: how do we make the way we work truly sustainable?

Starting on 22 September, the networks European Theatre Convention, FEDORA and Opera Europa are teaming up with the Theatre Green Book for a new five-part Sustainability Workshop Webinar Series — bringing together professionals from across Europe to share practical solutions, challenges and ideas.

The first session focuses on Modular Stage Construction: how reusable and adaptable scenic elements can reduce material waste and extend the life of what we build.

It marks a significant step in bringing our sectors together around a shared approach to sustainability — learning from one another and turning ambition into practical change.

📅 22 September 2026
⏰ 11:00–12:30 CEST
💻 Online | English

Open to Opera Europa, FEDORA and ETC Members Only. Final places available!

It’s been an incredible three year journey with YUM!, since the very first idea was born at @lamonnaie.demunt back in 2023. Growing together with the @fedoraplatform FEDORA Digital Prize since 2024, and got its home at @bregenzerfestspiele in 2025.

Today, we happily, proudly, and with very full hearts close the YUM! Bregenz chapter!❤️

There are soooo many people to thank. Without every single one of you, this journey would simply not have been possible! 🩷💚💙Thank you 3000:

Three years of YUM! life, filled with joy, happiness, frustration, craziness, and of course, some tears..
Now, YUM! Chapter One, wrapped! ✅

Time for a real holiday now!
YUM! Chapter Two coming soon…💫

And of course, a completely different production will soon be in the making…🔥

YUM! is an immersive dinner-theater experience where Extended Reality transforms simple gelées into glittering gourmet dreams and where, behind that glossy surface, a whole world begins to crumble. Luxury and scarcity, beauty and decay, satire and reality, all held together by Studio M.A.R.S.’s artistic vision. Congratulations to Wen Liu and to the entire creative team and cast!

None of this happens without partnership. Huge thanks to Kai Engel representing our digital prize sponsor Kearney for believing in what digital innovation can bring to opera.
Warmest thanks to Lilli Paasikivi and her team at the Bregenzer Festspiele GmbH for being such extraordinary hosts and for giving this project the stage.

🎭 Some impressions of the YUM!‘s World Premiere on 20 August 2026 at the Bregenzer Festspiele
A production led by Studio M.A.R.S., winner of the FEDORA Digital Prize 2025, selected by FEDORA’s expert jury chaired by Peter Maniura, supported by Kearney and co-financed by the European Commission in collaboration with the IMZ International Music + Media Centre.

Incredibly proud to see The Curing Line receive this outstanding five-star review following its world premiere @kilkennyartsfestival.

"The aesthetic is experimental, anarchic, carnivalesque and faintly grungy: a folk ritual and a fever dream. This is opera at its weirdest and most daring."

What a deep joy it has been to work alongside Michael Gallen, @shawnfitzgeraldahern & @stray_maker collaborators. And to watch the cast and crew bring this opera to life.
