This past May I had the incredible honor of doing the @vermontstudiocenter residency. To say it was transformative would be an understatement. This was my first residency ever and it was a dream come true. It was only a week long and I went into it excited but thinking I wouldn’t accomplish much in that short time span. The opposit was true: having that time and space to focus solely on my work was expansive and groundbreaking— I accomplished more in that week than I do in 6 months at home juggling all the things of other work demands etc etc. I had no plan going in, just some blank canvases. I started and almost completed the painting you see in the reel, I was so fully inspired and immersed in this beautiful studio space. A huge shout out to my amazing studio neighbor @toddkosharekart who brought me all of these beautiful books from the library as inspiration you see sprinkled throughout the reel.

@vermontstudiocenter creates such a truly special space, you feel like you’re entering a vortex there. The people that run VSC are exceptional, and they curated such an amazing cohort of residents. There were 40 of us there, a mix of visual artists and writers. So many beautiful and talented people that I was constantly inspired by. Thank you to everyone that I was lucky enough to cross paths with during that week, you each impacted me on such a deep level. There are not words to describe how fulfilling, deeply joyful, energized and inspired that week was for me, I’m still on a high from it all these months later.

It’s such a joy and honor to work with the radiant @chasinggarza , we’ve been working on her leg very randomly since 2019 and we finally completed it! Majority of it healed from years ago.

Work in progress on the gorgeous @nicolenelsong — inspired by the full solar eclipse that passed directly over VT a couple of years ago. We’ve been working on this during my yearly VT summer tattoo time, linework & some shading healed from a year prior, some shading fresh. Thank you Nicole for your trust, it’s always such an honor to work with you!

It’s been such a joy working on this sleeve for the fabulous @arianalian ! Work in progress: lower arm is fully healed & finished, upper arm still needs color added (some color in the midst of healing in these pics). I’ve been loving bringing this ecosystem to life on Ariana’s arm who is an Aquatic Ecologist and getting to learn about the incredible & important research they do in the Everglades!
