It's officially Gilmore girls season 🍂☕

Here are some book recommendations based on characters from my favourite TV show, all taken directly from my bookshelf 📚

I feel like Lorelai would really love books full of characters with big personalities and complicated relationships 🤎

Some more complicated relationships for Miss Rory but with a little touch of academic ambition 📚

Emily is 100% reading books on wealth, status, impeccable taste and the firm belief that appearances are everything 🥂

I feel like Richard would enjoy books about history, strategy and people who are very serious about being in charge 🎩

Luke was a Trekkie, so obviously he gets the sci-fi book. And after not getting his uncle's baseball cards, I feel like he at least deserves the baseball book too ⚾️

Books for the troubled, intelligent, emotionally repressed and those who are far more comfortable with books than people 📚

Dean dragged Rory to see The Fellowship of the Ring three times. These are probably the only books he's ever read 🤷🏻‍♀️

A couple of books about money, privilege and complicated people who have never really had to worry about the consequences of their actions💰

Sookie is cosy, a bit chaotic, and determined to make everyone's life a little bit better, I think she'd love some nice wholesome reads 💕

Constantly competing with Rory but loving her too, I feel like Paris would appreciate books about complicated relationships between fiercely ambitious women 🔥

I don't actually own this book. I just feel like Christopher needs to read it 🙃 by @felinefictional

A lovely morning spent in Bearsden, quick drop in to @thebookmongerbearsden where I picked up a blind date with a book and stopped for some delicious cinnamon pancakes at @viviandcoglasgow 🥞🤎
If you're ever visiting Glasgow you should definitely make a stop here 📚

💙Coraline appreciation post 💛

Coraline is almost definitely my favourite movie of all time! I think it’s one of the only movies where I genuinely prefer it to the book. The addition of Wybie and the doll just adds so much to the story, and the doll is so iconic now! The style of the movie is also just incredible... the colours, the atmosphere and the stop-motion are all done so brilliantly that I still find myself amazed by it every single time I watch it. I just love how it manages to be so beautiful and magical while also being genuinely creepy. There’s something about this movie that I can never get enough of, and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of watching it. It’s one of those films that just feels special to me, and I think that’s why it’ll always be my favourite! 🖤

❓QOTD: What’s a movie adaptation you think did it better than the book? 🎬 by @felinefictional

I'm actually loving this book, it feels like it's usually the kind of book I'd fly through but I've just had no time to read lately! Looking forward to a week off next week for all the reading time 📚 by @felinefictional

Book Review 📚✨ The Starving Saints by Caitlin Starling 🛡️

---

I really wanted to love this one because it has so many things I’ve been enjoying lately (sapphic horror with cannibalism is very hot right now 👀) but unfortunately it just didn’t work for me... I found all three POVs pretty boring, and I often struggled to tell the characters apart because there wasn’t enough difference in their personalities or voices. I just never felt particularly invested in any of them. There isn’t really a strong plot either, which normally wouldn't bother me because you all know I love a book with no plot. But for me, if you’re going to skip the plot, you need strong, compelling characters to carry the story... and this had neither. By the end, I felt like I’d spent a lot of time reading about… nothing much happening, and unfortunately the atmosphere alone couldn't save it for me 😬 If you've read this and enjoyed it I'd love to hear your thoughts on it cause I really wanted to like this one! by @felinefictional

Book Review 📚✨ Autumn by Ali Smith 🍂

---

I’ve been wanting to read this one for a while, but of course I had to wait until the leaves were orange and the air was crisp 🍂 I’m planning to read the rest of the Seasonal Quartet during their matching seasons as this feels like the right way to do it. I really enjoyed Autumn. It wasn’t quite the 5 stars I thought it might be, it was just shy of it, so it was still a very good read. I especially enjoyed the different writing styles throughout the book and how easy I found it to relate to Elisabeth... I mean, we’ve all experienced the absolute hassle of getting anything done at the post office 💀 I also really liked how this book explores the effects of Brexit through the lens of an ordinary person. Rather than focusing on the bigger political picture, we see the smaller ways a country can start to feel like it’s falling apart, like the rise in bigotry, the loss of community and the general feeling of things changing around you. I’m definitely looking forward to December, when I’ll be picking up the next book in the quartet 📚❄️ by @felinefictional
