More about the weekend.

This first picture shows how I feel, but not the reality of how it was. And this has been my constant struggle over the years.

I've been playing the final in my head over and over, thinking about mistakes, or things I should have done better, but the reality is that there was a lot of progress.

I've always done terrible at the NoGi Europeans, and this time I beat many tough opponents, and lost by one advantage against a good opponent who fought hard not to give me anything.

And, as the other pictures show, we had a great time. The team did amazing, placing in the top 10 win ratio in a major tournament with hundreds of teams.

It makes me incredibly proud to see the team we've built from nothing was able to produce so many great competitors, but also great coaches. The team maintains the vibe and tenacity regardless of the coach on the corner.

So, even though that 🥈 stings, it was a great time, and I am grateful for everything we've experienced, and for the team we have.

Special congrats and tks to @curious.jj @emmamilia @c.h.a.o.t @psychoeducationcounselor @gracieacademyberlin @fenrizgym

Euros are on the corner and we'll be prepared! Let's go!

Those are my takeaways first time solely as a coach at the No-Gi Europeans.

For the coaches i should have probably added: get yourself some good noise cancelling headphones, a portable seat and a renewable voice😅

Thank you @gracieacademyberlin & @felipecancadobjj for making this trip possible. I learned so much and am eager to keep growing this culture with our team and coaches here in Berlin.
Thanks to the whole team for the experience.

Looking forward to the next one.

Medaled at every brown belt major, knowing this coming into my first black belt adult tournament is tough, but medals wasn’t why I signed up, I wanted to see who’s there and how to eventually play at the top, so having 4 submission wins throughout the week showed me that at least I don’t have to feel too misplaced.
But damn scandinavian girls got me hard 😮‍💨

Thanks @curious.jj for preparing and supporting, @felipecancadobjj for coming mat side with me and encouraging me, @jantatarynowicz for all the pep talks (haha).

We came with a huge team again and everybody really showed up for one another, loved that @gracieacademyberlin
Congrats also to everyone who went out and competed and thanks to everyone who stayed behind after helping all of us prepare!

@yining.liuu28 with me again doing competitions together since 2023 🫰
And @zainabfh24 making sure to shout coach milo so I know they’re all there was the cutest 💞

🥈 at NoGi Euros 2026.

This one was a bit painful, but I have a lot to be grateful for.

I was beaten in the final by one advantage against a good opponent who fought really hard. Whenever we lose, we tend to focus on the loss, but there's always someone on the other side doing their best. Yesterday, my opponent did a good job, and he fought harder than I did, and lot because he had a stronger reason to win. It is difficult to deal with this, but it is what it is.

The way to the final was hard. Had 4 tough matches yesterday, and can say I did my best. I am happy with my performance, and behavior during the fights. Even tho I was prepared, my opponents were good and demanded everything I had. By the end I was done, so can't regret this.

I need to highlight the great preparation at Fenriz/Gracie Berlin. I dropped 10kg in less than 2 months, and finally went back to my original wait. At 38 having to care for my family and a big team, I had doubts on wether I could train this hard and drop so much weight, so that meant a lot to me.

Overall, it was disappointing to lose like this, but there's a lot to take from the experience. I got back in shape, the prep was great and made me a better, I had fun with my team, and could show my jiu-jitsu in a very competitive tournament. I am one step closer to my objective, and will do it.

I have to thank a lot of ppl too. First to my family @dania.naomi who are always on my side, and is the reason I do everythin. To @curious.jj for the preparation that got me there, and the support during the fights. @emmamilia who also pushed me hard, and supported me so much during the run. @philthescrambler_ , @c.h.a.o.t , and @lex_lothaire for the classes and rolls during the prep. The entire @gracieacademyberlin Team for always being so loud and supportive. And ofc to @fenrizgym for the support and opportunity. The love you guys bring means a lot to me, and I am very proud of this wonderful community.

This was a challenging, but worthy experience. I will now take a small break now, and be back to training for Euros 27 in January. I'm not stopping. Let's go to the next!

IBJJF World Masters 2026. (Sorry for the delay)

It was our first time in Las Vegas for Jiu-jitsu Con/World Masters, and we had a great time.

First we have to address Marek's amazing performance at the tournament! After 5 hard matches, he got second place in one of the most competitive tournaments in the world, and I couldn't be prouder. He came from another continent, with less bjj tradition, and made all the way to the finals at the highest competition level. It is an impressive achievement, and needs to be praised as much as possible. Congrats, Marek!

Also important to acknowledge the great work Phillip did during this time. He couldn't compete due to an unfair reason, but helped Marek warm up, supported us a lot during the tournament, and created a lot of content for the team. Aside from being a great trip partner, and having taught me how to open beers in german style.

The event itself was a great experience. I saw many old friends, and we had the opportunity to be around the best Jiu-jitsu in the world, and among legends of the sport which is very special. There were many seminars available with the greatests, and we're coming back even better than before.

Tks a lot also to Kat for taking us to cool places, and for the support. Congrats also to Lukas for his performance/achievement. It was very nice to be part of this somehow. You deserve it, man.

And last but not least, tks a lot to Fenriz Gym for making this experience possible, and for the whole Gracie Berlin Team. We couldn't be here without you all

It was an amazing trip, that provided a lot of growth and knowledge, as well as a lot of fun moments. Looking forward to do it again next year, with even more ppl. It is definitely worth it! Now we focus on Rome for NoGi Euros! Let's go!

What a day🔥

Final of the Open Class in the IBJJF Munich Open. This fight represents a lot of what I believe a competition should work. From the beginning I got to get my positions, made them work and gave my opponent very few opportunities to play. I usually don't celebrate like this, but was very happy to share this moment with my team. Especially after such a great performance of the entire team. Had a great time and look forward for more!

Tks a lot to my great team @fenrizgym @gracieacademyberlin, and special thanks for my wife @dania.naomi for the unconditional love and support.

Tks also to @bjjmktcrew and @yuri.catalano for the work on the video.

About this past weekend...(coach side)

Gracie Berlin went to the IBJJF Munich Open with 22 competitors, and we got 8 🥇 6🥈5 🥉 in the Gi, and 9🥇6🥈1🥉in the NoGi. With those results we placed 4th overall in the Gi, and 2nd overall in the NoGi.

We've had many amazing competition trips, but this one was special. It was our first IBJJF tournament in Germany in a long time, and the team made a huge statement.

Not only with impressive performances and results, but also constant support.

On a personal level, I am incredibly happy with this weekend. I had a blast competing along side my students, and some of their performances and results really made me emotional. Plus, it was my first time stepping on a IBJJF podium as a trainer, which was a major goal of mine for a while.

A lot of this has to do with the incredible work of our coaches, who put a lot of work on the classes, do a great job coaching students in the tournaments, and also put on a show competing. We are very fortunate to have those amazing ppl on our side.

It was amazing, and the whole team deserves every praise possible. Congrats to everyone, and let's go for more!

About this past weekend...(Competitor side first)

I competed at the IBJJF Munich Open and got with 🥈 in Gi, 🥇 in NoGi (default), and 🥇🥇 in both Gi and NoGi Absolutes.

More than the results, what made this event special was being able to share it with family, teammates, and friends. Competing close to home made it one of the most enjoyable tournaments I've had in a while.

I wasn't in ideal shape going in, but wanted to it to support the event and help motivate the team. After a difficult week, still had to drop 1,1kg right before the fight and didn't perform well in the Gi division. I was able to win the semifinals, but was exhausted afterwards. Got choked in the finals, but with merits to my opponent who did a good job. Got to eat after that and recover, and after a day of coaching and parenting I did the absolutes. Had 3 tough matches, but could play my stuff and got the win. In the NoGi I sadly had no opponents in the division, but had some good matches in the absolutes and also got the gold.

Overall it was a great event and hope @ibjjf @ibjjf_europe organize more in the area. It is very important to the community.

A huge thanks to my team @gracieacademyberlin @fenrizgym for always being there, and an extra special thank you to my wife @dania.naomi for her endless support and for being the most incredible person I know.

Happy about the weekend and looking forward to what's next!

Tks to @letzte_ubahn for the care and great pictures!
