To remember one of the most influential modern R&B artists of all time, I’m putting on a fundraising gig to support research into finding a solution for a condition that could have saved his life and many others.

This event is to commemorate his musical DNA, which can be heard throughout so much of the music we hear today. It’s important that we remember and celebrate that legacy.

We have a very colourful artist getting the show started: @addsomemoreblue, who will take you into her eccentric world.

Haven't been playing since I heard the news, so excuse the playing 😅. I feel like there is nothing else I can say abt D'Angelo that hasn't been said already but he truly is a big part of my music DNA as he introduced to so many records by artists that I love and cherish dearly today like Curtis Mayfield, The Meters, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Sly and The Family Stone, Earth, Wind and Fire, Angie Stone, Al Green and later discovering he was a huge PRINCE NERD LIKE ME😵‍💫. Music has always been a huge part of what helps me remember different moments of my life good or bad and D'Angelo is one of those artists who was always there to lift me up creatively, mentally and physically. He made me not lose hope that one day I could improve my life for the better. For 5 years, being so lonely as not only being someone wanting to pursue music but a black musician in a town that does not have anything to push young musicians to work on their craft or play together was metally challenging but I still looked up to someone who inspired me so much that fuelled my desire to pursue music and to not ever give up on my dreams. All those years took me somewhere I feel safe, and D'Angelo's Spanish Joint helped me with my audition and grades. My dream was just to give him a personal thank you for helping through my extreme low lows and tell him how much I he and his music mean to me. From my late walks home from being forced out of my secondary school's humble studio to cooking dinner while listening to Lady, D'Angelo is and will always be essential to keep my soul centred.

Thank you, D'Angelo💜
