Phoenix and London, two very different dance rooms.

In Phoenix, I was in the theater with young dancers at @yagp witnessing discipline, ambition, and the vulnerability of stepping forward in front of a jury and an audience.

In London at @trinitylaban I worked inside the CoLab project, musicians and dancers building material together, negotiating rhythm, listening, authorship, and shared responsibility in real time. I also taught MADP workshops on technique and repertoire, stepping into the transmission of form, history, and physical rigor.

Different contexts. Different dance languages. Competition and collaboration. Individual clarity and collective investigation.

Moving between these spaces reminds me how displacement shifts perspective. Leaving our habitual rooms asks us to listen differently, to notice what we take for granted, and to deepen our appreciation for the form itself.

Across continents and contexts, what remains constant is the body as a meeting place. Through dance, we cross geography, background, training systems, and expectation, and find common ground in shared practice.

And none of it happens alone. Grateful for the colleagues who shared laughter, stories, long days, and generous conversation along the way. It truly takes a village to sustain this work. 🙃
