Photos from the second half of our Culture Night double feature in The Hole in The Wall, Kilkenny.

Michael Higgins & Oli Ryan absolutely brought down the house with an incredible performance spanning music and cinema.

The audience was brought into the expanded cinematic environment by contributing reels of analogue film that they were given before the performance and also by playing percussion instruments during the screening.

It was an absolute joy to host Inni-K last Friday as part of our Culture Night double bill in the Hole in the Wall, Kilkenny.

Our camera operator Freddie Greenall took some great photos that show the variety of musical talents Eithne has to offer. They're interwoven with some photo contributions from the audience too (thank you!).

Thanks to everyone for coming out and making it a very special evening.

Scattered Sessions is delighted to announce our Culture Night double bill!

This Culture Night, Friday September 18th, join Scattered Sessions at Hole in the Wall, Kilkenny for a special double bill of live performance and conversation.

Hosted by musician and composer Oisín Quigley, Scattered Sessions brings musicology into the public sphere through intimate performances and conversations with leading artists.

5:00-6:30 PM - EPISODE #2: INNI-K
(Doors 4:30)

An intimate evening of conversation and music with acclaimed sean-nós singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer and songwriter Inni-K (Eithne Ní Chatháin).

Rooted in sean-nós and traditional Irish music while constantly moving into new territory, Inni-K’s singular sound draws from folk, ambient, jazz and art-song. Her latest album, Still a Day, was released in 2025 to widespread acclaim.

Experimental filmmaker Michael Higgins and composer Oli Ryan present their latest expanded cinema performance, UP CLOSE REMOTE CONTROL.

Analogue projectors, film, contact microphones, acoustic exciters and other devices come together through improvisation, allowing image and sound to be generated, interrupted and transformed in real time.

The performance will be followed by an audience Q&A, exploring extended cinema, real-time composition and the blurred lines between cinema and musical performance.

Got to see Glasgow recently, packed a lot in to just over 48hrs. Kelvingrove Museum, Clydeside Distillery, the Necropolis, University of Glasgow and the fever dream that was Golf Fang. Definitely want to go back! by @ferdia.b

Turned 30 in February this year and wanted to do it all extra with an extra person. Iceland is gorgeous, lived up to and exceeded expectations (even if the weather was a little too extra) and I want to go again. Beautiful and dramatic landscapes there, proper land of ice and fire. taken in Reijkavyk by @ferdia.b

Just submitted the last assignment for the second HEA course I got the opportunity to take part in this year. Been a busy, sometimes stressful, but rewarding year. In the first half of the year I got to learn about post production and sound design, getting Pro Tools certified at the end of it as well, and immediately got to start in to the AV and live streaming course right after(on top of a new full time job). Starting this tumultuous year with a course like this was a huge boost, getting to learn from some of the best engineers in the country and getting access to top facilities in @windmilllanerecording for both courses was such an amazing opportunity. Met some really lovely people on both courses and learned a ton, and don’t want to stop learning any time soon! Huge thanks to Kevin, Tony, Greg, Edgey, Emma and all of the lecturers and staff we were lucky to have for these courses. @edgey_snorky_edgeworth @aesopian_acoustics @pulsecollege @composernestor by @ferdia.b

Spent the last two days in the studio recording an EP with a band that’s still nameless. Really happy with how everything turned out, especially with the @12gaugemicrophones I used, particularly the Blue on the hats as a close mic. The Red worked really as a room mic alongside the @manleylabs Ref-C and the Green was great as a close mic for the guitar amps. Spoiled rotten with the selection of mics and equipment that @tmakesmusic has at his disposal. #studio #recordingstudio #drums #12gaugemicrophones #manley #shure #rupertneve by @ferdia.b
