A melody that has been following me already for some weeks and today I’ve finally found the time to learn it 🤓 It’s a handpan cover of “Comptine d’un autre Eté” from @yanntiersen .Also a good moment to try the loopstation for the added harmony 🎼It worked pretty fine, I think!

This version of the song “Ötme Bülbül” was recorded in the beautiful Sommerfest envisioned by @nico.cello.nar 👏🏽 Huge thanks also to @simons_musikoase for making such wonderful sound engineering both live as in post production ✨

Ötme Bülbül is a poem by the Alevi poet Pir Sultan Abdal (16th century) that talks about martyrdom and mourning of the oppressed ones that fight for freedom and justice. Pir Sultan Abdal ended up being ex*ecuted by the authorities because of his words and music. We solidarize with minorities, religious and political freedom so we will not forget songs like this. The nightingale will sing again ✊🏽 taken in Köln, Germany by @fernandolyrasounds

Wir sind İki Zeytin, ein Ensemble aus Köln mit Mira Dietl (Deutschland), Barış Can Avcı (Türkei) und Fernando Lyra (Brasilien/Portugal). In unserer Musik verbinden wir Improvisation, feinfühlige Klangräume und eine große Achtung vor der Tiefe traditioneller Musik.

Wir spielen sozial engagierte, vorwiegend türkische Volksmusik sowie Eigenkompositionen mit Instrumenten wie Bağlama, Oud, Viola, Gitarre, Klarinette und verschiedenen Perkussionsinstrumenten. Inspiriert von alevitischen und sufistischen Traditionen schöpft unser Schaffen aus Widerstand, Solidarität und Verbundenheit – durch herzliche Arrangements und Texte.

Auf der Bühne lädt unsere Musik euch ein, euch a die Küsten der Ägäis treiben zu lassen und die Brise einzuatmen, die von Sehnsucht, Hoffnung und Freude erfüllt ist.

Vielen Dank an euch alle, die unseren musikalischen Weg mitverfolgt haben, und wir hoffen, euch bald bei einem Konzert zu sehen 🫶🏼🫶🏽🫶🏽

🇬🇧 Hello to all our old and new followers 🤗

We are İki Zeytin, a Cologne-based ensemble with Mira Dietl (Germany), Barış Can Avcı (Turkey), and Fernando Lyra (Brazil/Portugal).

In our music we blend improvisation, delicate soundscapes, and a deep respect for the richness of traditional music, playing socially engaged, mainly Turkish folklore and original compositions with instruments such as Bağlama, Oud, Viola, Guitar, Clarinet, and different percussions. Inspired by Alevi and Sufitraditions, our work draws from resistance, solidarity, and connection through heartfelt arrengements and lyrics.

On stage, our music invites you to let yourself drift on the shores of the Aegean Sea and breath the breeze filled with longing,hope and joy.

Sieger creole NRW 2026: Emajamaa✨

@emajamaa steht für Musik, die Träume zum Tanzen bringt. In ungewöhnlicher Besetzung lotet das Trio neue klangliche Möglichkeiten aus und verbindet Einflüsse aus skandinavischem Jazz, Minimal Music, Klassik und Folk zu einer ganz eigenen musikalischen Sprache - und überzeugte so die creole-Jury.

Nächste Woche sehen wir uns wieder zu einem Abend voller brasilianischem Choro im @caspars.duesseldorf. Nach dem Konzert sind alle eingeladen, bei der traditionellen “Roda de Choro” mitzuspielen - unserem @chorodorf.

🇩🇪 Mit großer Freude starten wir gemeinsam mit diesem brasilianischen Choro-Quartett: Chorodorf

Gestern war das Konzert voll, gefolgt von einer wunderbaren Roda, bei der wir die Gelegenheit hatten, mit großartigen Musikerinnen und Musikern zu teilen... sowohl beruflich als auch aus tiefstem Herzen.

Maravilhoso! Vamos por mais!

🇧🇷 Com muita emoção damos início junto a este quarteto de choro brasileiro: Chorodorf

Ontem tivemos um concerto cheio, seguido de uma linda roda onde tivemos a oportunidade de compartilhar com músicos maravilhosos, de profissão e de coração.

Some songs are never just songs. They carry what could not be spoken openly: resistance, identity, and the longing for freedom.

At the time it was written, in Rojava, even speaking the name Kurdistan was forbidden. In other parts of occupied Kurdistan, speaking Kurdish itself was criminalized. Under colonization and forced assimilation, language became dangerous, and love became coded.

In Ay lê gule, written by Mihemed Şêxo, the love for Kurdistan is masked through the love for a woman. On the surface, it sounds like a love song. But beneath it lives something deeper: longing for homeland and freedom. Perhaps it is both at once.

This is how oppressed peoples have always survived: by hiding truth in poetry, resistance in melody, and identity in metaphor.
When your existence is politicized, even singing becomes an act of resistance.
