This is what happens when seriously talented chefs get their hands on incredible locally grown produce.

I didn't think I could be more wowed by the creativity of cooking and mouth-popping flavours than I was last night at @ferncornwall

Chefs @paulwelburn and @wiseman_chef pulled out all the stops to make our autumnal supper truly spectacular. We've now experienced 3 seasonal menu changes with them, and I'm still in awe of their culinary skills.

Last night was all about showcasing the incredible produce from @aral.farm, and they absolutely delivered.

From the spiced, crunchy hash browns (wish I hadn't given my second one away) and that divine, tear-and-share Parkerhouse roll, to the warm BBQ brassica salad that had the table ooooing and arrring with its pops of umami, truffle custard, crispy chilli and Ogleshield.

The 48-hour BBQ lamb neck was beautifully tender, with a gorgeous sweet, sticky stout glaze that had everyone talking, while the crown prince squash cheesecake, pumpkin seed brittle, buttermilk sorbet and lime finished things on a high. Smooth, crunchy, citrusy, with the loveliest coconuty aftertaste. Absolutely stunning.

A huge thank you to Paul, Luke and the whole team for spoiling us once again. And to Conor and Rose from @aral.farm for joining us, sharing their beautiful produce and reminding us why looking after our land matters so much.

To everyone who joined us, especially those experiencing Potluck Cornwall for the first time, thank you for embracing the evening. And to my regulars, thank you for your continued support and friendship. It means more than you know.

Such a beautiful evening, celebrating brilliant food, incredible locally grown produce and hospitality done right.

Already looking forward to what our fourth season brings next year.

We're carrying on our 1st birthday celebrations next Thursday, 29th October, and we'd love you to come along! 🥂

From the fig tree to the plate.

Paul's been out picking figs from the garden at Fern, and they've found their way into one of his desserts.

It's a lovely example of how Paul likes to cook, making the most of what's growing around us and turning simple ingredients into something a little bit special.

This month, Fern turns one!

It's hard to believe it's been almost a year since we first opened our doors.

Here's a little look back at our launch night last October. A brilliant evening and the start of what has been a pretty special first year.

We've welcomed so many wonderful people through our doors, made some great memories and even picked up three AA Rosettes along the way!

A huge thank you to everyone who's supported us over the past 12 months. We're looking forward to celebrating with you later this month.

The first swedes are coming out of the ground! 🌱

And what beauties they are! Our first harvest headed off to @ferncornwall today, with plenty more making their way into the farm shop and, very soon, our veg boxes.

Despite a summer of relentless heat and drought, our brassicas have absolutely thrived this year. It's a real testament to the health of our soil, built through years of careful management, and the team's dedication to keeping everything watered through those long, hot weeks.

From swedes and cabbages to kale, broccoli and more, there's an incredible autumn harvest ahead of us.

We're looking forward to sharing this bounty through our farm shop, veg boxes and local markets over the coming months. Good soil, hard work and a little patience paying off!

We’re back open tomorrow.

Paul and the team have been keeping themselves busy during our little break.

Oh, and did we mention we picked up 3 AA Rosettes...we may have already mentioned it.

Come and join us next Friday as we head to @ferncornwall now proudly awarded 3 AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence 2026.

This will be our third seasonal collaboration together, and this one is a little different as we’re putting @aral.farm firmly in the spotlight.

Conor & Rose will be joining us, to talk about all things locally grown, working with the land, their veg boxes, food security and the realities of producing food in an ever-changing climate.

Chefs @paulwelburn and @wiseman_chef have created a seriously good autumnal menu showcasing the latest harvest from Aral Farm.

We’re back this Thursday, and we’re coming back with some pretty special news.

Fern has been awarded 3 AA Rosettes.

We’re incredibly proud of Paul and the whole team. A lot of work goes into what we do here, from the kitchen to front of house, so to receive three Rosettes means a huge amount to all of us.

After a couple of weeks away, we’re really looking forward to getting the doors open again, getting back in the kitchen and welcoming you all back to Fern.

We’re taking a little break.

Fern will close after service this Sunday, giving the team a chance to rest, reset and get ready for what’s coming next.

We’ll be back open on Thursday 8th October, with plenty to look forward to. Potluck, our collaboration with Aral Farm, Christmas and lots more already in the diary.

There’s still time to join us before we close, so come and see us this week.

A little heads-up if you’re planning a visit to Fern over the next couple of weeks.

Our last day before our September break is Sunday 20th September, so there’s still time to come and see us for lunch, dinner or a few drinks before we close.

We’ll then be taking a short break and reopening on Thursday 8th October.

If you’ve been meaning to book a table, now’s a good time to get one in before we disappear for a couple of weeks.
