Dear Mac,

This isn’t a letter I ever wanted to write. Thank you for being my family for the last almost fourteen years. I remember when you first came to us — I wasn’t ready for another dog. “So soon after Junior?” I thought. But you made your way into our hearts, and in my heart you’ll stay. I’m sorry we couldn’t stretch it to your fourteenth birthday (is it really tomorrow? Bimbi and I will have to celebrate, and you’ll have to join us “in spirit”).

There are many moments I will hold on to, but one that will remain with me is how, after you woke up this past Monday, you were back to your old self for just a moment, and you kissed my face like you used to when you were a puppy. There are many things I selfishly wanted you around for, and in your honor, I’ll still go after those things. I know you’ll see them, even if I can’t see you.

Thank you for the love, Mac. Come back anytime. Go easy on Dad; he has seven of you up there to walk ;-)

Love,
Fernan by @fernographie

My Papa passed away at 6 AM this morning. I’ve studied words my whole life; I even make a living based on how words are used. I struggle to come up with the right words to describe my dad, and what he will continue to mean to me. My dad and I shared two languages, and no word in either language can suffice.

It won’t happen overnight
But if you quit, it won’t happen at all.
We’re moving to Baltimore! Thank you to the amazing team of women (@dylanmaddoxbaltimore, Francesca, Sara, Jennifer, Latasha) who mean business that got me here. And I couldn’t have done this without my family’s support— namely, mama and my Tita Linda! Each brick bears your name. by @fernographie

Some things can’t be counted. Two months without Mac. Bimbi and I miss him. by @fernographie

I love all of my families. Some I was born into.
Some I earned, through trust, honor, and devotion, and at least one moving day with no truck.

Inherited or earned, I’d take a bullet for every one of you. A small one. Like a BB. by @fernographie
