I was so excited to have my paper quilts included in such a beautiful space and with an amazing group of artists.
I've fallen in love with Oberlin and can't wait to go back! by @ferris_muellerz

I've been traveling around the Midwest so much this year and have started bringing my little Contax G1 along with me.

Here are some images from New Buffalo, MI that I got to visit with my mom this past weekend ☀️ by @ferris_muellerz

A little weaving study...

I've been obsessed with weaving recently. This is a study for a larger hanging weaving. The warp and weft are hand spun Kozo paper yarn which I make by cutting handmade Kozo paper into strips and then rolling it into yarn. I've couched little paper square additions onto the surface of the weaving as well.

There’s something really exciting to me about collapsing the space between paper making and weaving and I love the surface quality of the paper yarn and having something 2 dimensional become tactile and sculptural 🌱

THE PRINTS AND THE PULPER AWARD 🎨

Congratulations to Emily Mueller @ferris_muellerz for winning The Prints and The Pulper Award for her beautiful work, "Green Lilies Paper Quilt."

Emily is a multimedia artist, curator, and Gallery Director at Kodner Gallery in Saint Louis, where she also teaches photography, design, and fine art. She holds an MFA from Washington University in Saint Louis and runs a micro-gallery called The Nook out of her home.

About the work:

"In Green Lilies Paper Quilt, I use a combination of abaca and recycled paper as a base pulp. I then separate pulp into jars and use powdered jacquard dye to color each bit of pulp and develop a color palette. This usually starts with determining one main color and then responding intuitively to it until a whole palette is created... The end result is a solid sheet of paper and even though it exists as a two dimensional piece of artwork, it evokes the tactility and dimensionality of a quilt or piece of printed fabric through its fragmented surface."

We are so honored to celebrate your work, Emily!

My website is finally updated with images and work from my exhibition "I Have Considered the Lilies" 🌀

I’ve just updated my website with work that means a lot to me. This is an evolving group of paper works I’d love to see continue its journey beyond this space.
I’m currently open to opportunities to bring this exhibition to spaces and collaborate with people who connect with the vision.

Thanks to everyone who came and visited my exhibition "I Have Considered the Lilies"

So excited to have gotten the opportunity to show this work that explores a lot of new techniques and processes in paper making, especially weaving, that I've really fallen in love with.
