For many, sharing stories and memories from years at Festivals Acadiens is almost as special as spending the weekend beneath the oaks in Girard Park. How lucky are we to share this tradition across generations! by @festsacadiens

This is how we started Festivals Acadiens et Créoles weekend.

"Elemore Morgan Jr. — Photographs from the Festival of American Folklife, 1976" is now on view at the Hilliard. Twenty-three photographs, printed from the artist’s original slides, bring Cajun and Creole musicians on the National Mall back into focus.

On view through December 19, 2026.

Free for members. Included with general admission.

Presented by Festivals Acadiens et Créoles in collaboration with the Smithsonian Folklife Festival and Center for Louisiana Studies by @festsacadiens

The Legends gathered for a weekend of culture, heritage, and Cajun fame. @festsacadiens is one unlike any other, and my heart is left as full as my belly. Surrounded by flying dust, the dancers kick the earth in the Louisiana sun. What an honor is was to play my first one with my brothers. We made it. Thank you to Lisa, Barry and Pat for granting me the opportunity. It is truly the most incredible way to celebrate Creole and Cajun culture combined. The most authentic Louisiana experience when it comes to festivals.
